Edie was hardly surprised at his confirmation that she would get any more than she'd agreed on initially. He was clever. He'd given himself this loophole for this exact reason. And while he may have been clever, Edie was certainly equally so. She didn't say more regarding the topic, simply watching him skeptically as he dug into his back pocket. She watched as he handed over the fifty dollars, trying not to look too eager as she took both bills. The extra ten dollars was hardly fair considering the amount he'd just received due to her efforts, but it was a considerable amount in her current situation. Edie tucked the bills into her bag. She offered no sort of thanks to the man â€" after all, she'd done her job. She'd earned the money and she had absolutely no reason to thank him. Besides that, she refused to give him the satisfaction.
It seemed to be her demand that finally got his attention, and Edie couldn't help the smirk that appeared on her lips at his baffled words. "I'm Edie Graham, that's who," She said without missing a beat. Perhaps he was an Alpha. Weeks ago, that would have meant that she'd listened to him without complaint. But now she was stronger. Now she wasn't afraid to back down to him or let him know that she wasn't powerful in her own right. "And yes, I demand it. Come on then, let's get a move on." The young girl kept her voice level and firm, though she couldn't wipe the smile off her features. Edie was a pleasant girl, if not a stubborn one. She didn't back down easily. Not to her own pack back home. Not to him. If she became a member of his pack, she'd show more respect, but teasing was within her nature.
Though she held her hand outstretched to him, she hardly expected him to take it. She showed nothing but a smirk on her lips as he stood and brushed past her. This time pausing to make sure she was following him. It was a subtle gesture, one to put her in her place and prove his own dominance in the situation. For now, Edie was willing to let him have it. Whether or not she'd protest in the future was another matter entirely. She turned on her heels to follow him, easily taking her place at his side. She slipped her arm into his, pulling herself close to his side. After all, his role of 'arm candy' meant that she would keep him close.
She hardly cared about the shops they were passing, though she glanced over at them to make him think that she was interested in them. She didn't dare give him her full attention, though her thoughts drifted towards him. It was hard not to like the man she'd decided to spend her afternoon with. There was an undeniable spark to him that attracted her and pulled her in like a magnet. She was hardly the type for a girlish crush, though she couldn't deny his attractiveness. Still, it was hardly his beauty that sparked her interest. It was entirely his stubbornness and the way he'd demand things from her and seem amused when she'd be clever enough to find a way to demand back.
Her gaze drifted back to him only momentarily as he asked his question, and for a moment Edie considered not answering it at all. In truth, the young girl didn't have an answer to how she'd come to be in this city. She'd grown bored, and Sacrosanct had had the cheapest plane tickets of the cities she'd considered. It was hardly an interesting choice, but it certainly wasn't a sad story.
"I don't have a sad story," Edie said, vocalizing the thoughts that went through her mind. She flashed him a small smile before she pretended to be more interested in a pair of shoes in a shop window than she actually felt. "I wanted more than Yorkshire offered. I'm more than my pack thought, so I left them. I'm not going to settle when I have the wit to be a Beta at minimum." She gave him a small grin, giving his arm a light squeeze. "Know anyone who needs a brilliant, beautiful young woman at their side? Because I am oh so available."
