Scarlett Trivale
So try to love me
And i'll try to save you
Scarlett had always been tough physically, able to push her body passed what someone of her stature should be able to do and take a beating and still get up. She lacked that emotional toughness, to defend herself like some could against emotions; She was much more likely to to cry because she was sad than to cry because she was in physical pain. She was her own worst enemy, where her stubbornness would come forward so that nobody could trample over her, her own mind would trample over itself. But that was just who Scarlett was at a person, she couldn't be like Frost, to detach herself emotionally from a situation. Her emotions had to run their course, she'd already made it through her anger at the world, now she just needed to get through the sadness that her grandparents were gone. The wolf was resilient enough that, though they may drag her down, they would never be able to drown her.
She was surprised for a moment, when a warmth seemed to reach out and wash over her. It enveloped her like a blanket and her shivering slowed to something unnoticeable, what remained from mental exhaustion and not from the cold she created. It took her a moment to remember and realize where this strange sensation of warmth was coming for, her green eyes glancing to him momentarily. For everything people might say about him, for that cold detachment he showed the world, there was kindness there, even if it was small and he might deny it. She saw it and felt it, maybe because she saw good in everyone and liked to believe that there was always some good in everyone. Nobody would ever be able to deny what she saw, tell her otherwise that he was completely bad; People were not inherently bad.
There is a light twitch of her lips at his smooth reply back to her comment about wet dog. She couldn't be sure if he was joking or letting her know he didn't care, she liked to believe it was a little of both. When he asks her just why she is crying, she starts to ramble a little bit. She is vaguely aware that sometimes she talks more than needed, and she hopes he listens with patience. That sometimes she over explained even when things could be simplified, to overshare so people understood her or the situation a little better. But he continues to reassure her that it's not a shameful thing to cry, despite how much of a blubbering mess she was. She knew deep down that death was an inevitable, that she too would die one day, but that fact alone did not make loss any easier to deal with. Both humans and wolves mourned the loss of loved ones; She had already sent so many heartbreaking howls into the sky, to voice what she felt. It would just take time.
There is a gentleness to his words, and she listens intently, letting the weight of them sink in. There was so much truth to his words that it seemed to stun her, her sadness had not let her see things this way. It was a painful break, but it was a break away from the past. She had come to Sacrosant to start new, to build a life for herself. There deaths seemed like a set back, but maybe it was freeing; the pain would be worth something at the end of the tunnel. Perhaps they were gone now, but she had gotten the honor to know them, and their lessons would never be gone. They had made Scarlett into the girl she was, and now it was time for her to go out into the world and, as Frost had put it, make herself something. "You're right," she hummed, the tiniest of twitches at the edge of her lips. It wasn't her immediately moving on, but it was her realization that she did need to move on, that this wasn't the end for her and she could find greener grass. The smallest sign that his words were having a healing affect on her was that the rain had slowed to nothing more than a slight drizzle.
His next words, his offer, see's surprise written over her face. Her green eyes find purchase on his face once more, almost searching for him to be kidding, though she knows he is not the type. There is some hesitance, as she wonders if she is ready to be apart of a pack, worthy. She surely still lacks all of the information that most Weres know, have been taught long before her. But then she stops herself from these thoughts, this was not making something of herself, he wouldn't have even offered the spot if he didn't think she would be a good enough addition. This was her chance, and she wasn't sure she could afford to turn down anymore chances in life. She also trusted Frost, he had never harmed her, in fact all he had done was help her and show her kindness. For the first time, there is an actual smile on her face, and when she looked up to the sky it stopped raining. She was still sad, but there was enough peace now that she was capable of getting control over the rain, even while sad. "I promise I won't make any rain clouds in your home," she says, with light laughter at the idea. The only time she had ever done that was to spite someone who had been extremely rude to her. But most importantly, this was a huge step for her, towards being a better Were, towards a future of good and bad but one she would carve out for herself.
