i used to rule the world

seas would rise when i gave the word

Frost was hardly the only soul of the pair to remain ever vigilant of those peculiarities that so made up the personality of the other half of this bizarre team they had so made. Quite on the contrary, Alexander remained ever watchful of those peculiar nuisances that so laced his mount from the man's unfathomable and infinite love of sugar to his less than favorable exterior to his annoyingly steadfast persistence and his unexpected fear of darkness. He had also realized well his companion's decidedly lack of trust within others, though he suspected it was well warranted. Few these days were worth such a precious thing as trust, of that even Alexander knew. Still, he hoped Frost could see that their particular situation required some level of that very thing - Alexander needed to know what they had to work with to ensure they not only got out of this confounded cave alive but also that their mission was completed successfully enough to ensure the council to no longer regard them with that disgusting lowly look. Alexander would do what was necessary to ensure that regard of respect he deserved was properly given to him. Frost was perhaps no more than a tool to that goal but too, he knew well the man looked upon him as little more than the same.

Regardless, it was that simple mention of mortals that so re-captured the Dark Hunter's attention, those tactical thoughts required far more knowledge then what he presently had and discovering what little hope those wayward humans might provide could prove beneficial. He was hardly ignorant to the way in which Frost reacted to his own suggestion that such life might be utilized solely for fodder. In truth, he often particularly struggled to ensure he could ensure the longevity of any who provided their sword to his banner - he was known for such, and yet the humans who hid away here were hardly his men nor his army. Much less was he entirely unwilling to admit one simple truth Frost himself had already come to terms with - this was battle. Lives could always be lost. It was a concept that had entirely offended Alexis and yet Frost seemed to accept this so readily, leading the way with a certain sort of determination. Alexander hardly questioned it, however, merely reaching out to his own ability to call that trusty sword to his side. What he hadn't anticipated, however, was the singular thought that pressed into his head, one that caused his gaze to shift to the equine at his side with a note of inquisitiveness upon his features. "Almost?" He inquired with a sardonic tone and yet, he said little other on the topic, instead letting Frost lead them deeper into that labyrinth.

He remained wholly silent as they progressed forward with marked slowness, the pair clearly prepared for the unexpected. It was only at that crossroads of sorts that Alexander hesitated, his blue-green gaze immediately turned towards the equine at his side, fully expecting some guidance from the horse in that moment. Frost's senses were far superior than his own at a time like this. In fact, the hunter unquestionably trusted in his companion to lead them where the King himself had declared their destination, even despite the horses continued discomfort in such a closed in space. It was only at Frost's conclusion of those tunnels that caused Alexander's gaze to flicker to those darkened ominous mouths. He stepped forward without hesitance, hardly willing to become distracted in his task. After all, they could easily become lost is the many branches that might lead off from those other tunnels. No, it was best to stick to his original plan, as tentative as it was in the current moment. It wasn't long, however, before Alexander himself began to smell them. It was the filth of desolation, of being captive, of hopelessness. Even though Alexander himself would certainly never be caught in a situation such as this, he could not deny that he felt a certain sort of pity for them. They might not all survive but the Macedonian King was damn well determined to try.

His senses flared not but a second prior to Frost's own lyrics voicing the presence of a supernatural creature - they were not alone in here. Though really, it wasn't as if he was terribly surprised. No one, not even vampires, were daft enough to leave their food source unguarded, not when the tunnel for freedom wasn't particularly hard for their stumbling feet in desperation to reach. There had to be someone, something, that kept them here. His blue-green eyes immediately turned towards that hulking figure that charged upon him with an eagerness and yet, his sword was quick to fly. After all, Alexander was made for this - for combat, for battle, for wars. The butt of his hilt slammed into the head of the first vampire, that silver burning him enough to send him off kilter that his initial attempt to so pin him to the ground. His hand shifted, clearly intending to finish off the first vampire before Alexander found that resistance. He hardly had a chance to glance at his sword arm before he felt the body of the vampire flush against him, those teeth immediately digging into his neck. A restrained sound of pain left the man's lips as he did his best to so twist that sword just enough to make the first vampire hesitate.

A loud thud resounded to his left and yet, for the moment, Alexander was far too concerned with his own situation to bother with idle inquisitiveness. Thankfully, Frost himself seemed inclined to assist, that bite suddenly saw the second vampire release his hold and quickly, Alexander shifted, his opposite hand reaching out, this time, for that familiar wooden spear. It was a moment of quick reflexes that so positioned himself between both vampires, giving them just enough time to turn their attention back upon him before he called for that weapon. In but seconds it materialized within his hand, the tips shoving through the chest of both vampire's on each end, effectively staking the pair at that exact same moment. A loud grunt left his lips as he stepped away from those falling figures, his hands releasing both sword and spear to disappear from whence they came and, instead, his fingers immediately went to the stinging bite upon his neck. "Damned vampires." He muttered, more to himself than anyone at large and quickly his own instincts expanded to search the cave for any others. Finding that third fallen figure was hardly difficult, the hunter quickly inclined to disperse of him just as thoroughly. He made his way towards the wall of the cave, ignoring the human souls just long enough to reach out for a steak to materialize in his fingertips, one the Macedonian King was quick to drive home. Three down, 123 more to go?
