Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
if these wings could fly for the rest of our lives
She could feel the sun encroaching upon that horizon just as much as he well could, that tiredness was already beginning to tug on her, the girl was likely going to get little more than a few hours of sleep at best before she was required to drag herself out of bed and to that university campus. It was very likely she was going to hate herself in the morning and yet, Abigail had no regrets about her decision to spend tonight with her closest companion. It was almost disappointing that now was time for her to leave and yet, she was quick to assure him that she hardly required any sort of walking home. His safety, after all, was of utmost importance to the young woman, far more than any selfish desire to spend more time with him. That scowl upon his features at the sheer suggestion, however, quickly caused the young woman to hurry her offer that, if he wanted to, he could stay at her home. After all, her bedroom was sufficiently safe from the sun and with no one but herself at her home, Abigail hardly had to worry after anyone barging in to disrupt his sleep. It was kind of a good idea, if not wholly concerning for how out of the ordinary that offer surely was.
She tried to reason with herself, in those moments after she provided Arlo that suggestion, that inviting her best friend over was certainly not any different than those slumber parties that young girls had when they stayed up all night and gossiped over boys or...whatever caught their fancy. She somehow doubted that Arlo and herself would partake in such chattering and yet, with each prolonged second of silence that passed, Abigail only found herself all the more nervous. Maybe she shouldn't have suggested anything at all?Her hazel eyes stared down at her shoes, almost concerned to glance up at the face of her best friend. That sudden assurance of that singular word almost caught the girl off guard after those several long moments beneath the weight of Arlo's gaze, her own eyes widened ever so slightly in surprise as she glanced up at him. That warm grin upon his features, however, only prompted the presence of her own ecstatic simper. She nodded quite enthusiastically in return to that inquiry. "It's okay!" She insisted, "I have super thick curtains and it's like it's night time when it's really daytime and no one else lives with me so you'll be perfectly fine!" Her words were far more rushed with her eagerness, enough so that Abigail hardly considered exactly which rooms in her home were 'vampire safe'.
She watched as Arlo gathered his own things before leading them out that apartment. Her own steps contained a small skipping jump of sorts as Abigail made her way down those stairs, the ears of her hoodie flopping in her wake. It was only once they were upon the pavement in front of his apartment that her gait returned to a more normal pace, the woman's attention steadfast in front of her as she led the way towards her own neighborhood. She was oblivious to the way her best friend's gaze turned towards her, the woman instead pulled her hoodie closer. The weather was often colder this early in the day. Christmas was coming, after all. It was that sudden sound of Arlo's voice that drew her gaze in an inquisitive fashion, her head bobbed ever so slightly in agreement with that suggestion to meet Mr. Chocolate Man. She was hardly oblivious to the way her companion's voice trailed off and yet, any concerns that rested in those words all but passed entirely over the young woman's head. Maybe Mr. Chocolate Man was just super duper nice or something? "I think that'd be fun." She insisted with a warm grin.
Abigail hardly expected that further story of the other vampire that Arlo had met, though she listened intently all the same. Her eyebrows furrowed at that mention of her story of being turned and that insistence that vampire's never tell that story. "Why not?" The young woman interrupted, entirely confused as to why that origin story might be such an awful thing in a vampire's life. After all, her origin story was kind of romantic, as far as she was concerned. Were vampires too not capable of having nice turnings? Was that a thing? How were vampire's turned? The corner of her lips tilted downwards in a hint of consideration of all those questions she hadn't asked, at least, until Arlo admitted that Abigail would hardly enjoy this Petra lady as much as she might Mr. Chocolate Man. She gasped at this idea of Petra attempting to kill her best friend, that disgruntled pout almost clear on her features. "She doesn't sound like a very nice lady.....maybe you shouldn't be her friend..." Abigail responded. After all, what if she tried to kill Arlo again?! That'd be awful! She didn't know what she'd do without her best friend! He was like...the only person in all of that busy metropolis that she really really liked!
Her own internal fretting of Arlo's wellbeing, however, was interrupted only by that sudden question of her own household, one that made her gaze turn away from the sidewalk and towards him. "Um....it's....bigger than my old house used to be?" She inquired, almost unsure if her home was classified as "big". There were certainly homes far bigger than hers in her neighborhood but it was a big home by Abigail's standards. "It has a kitchen and a living room and a dining room and two bedrooms and...." She paused as the pair started to meander through those beginning homes of the Southern neighborhoods. "See, it looks kinda like that one!" She stated, pointing to a small, nearby two-story home. "We're not very far now. We just gotta turn right up here at the barky dog." She led the way towards that fenced in yard, that large dog peeking his head out of that doghouse only to glare at them with a sort of keen determination to defend his yard. Abigail was entirely content to stare Mr. Barky dog down, after all, he always scared the poor girl as a panda with his rawrying and ruffing and his growling. He was soooo much bigger than she was! She led the way past him and towards the Southern Park, crossing the street at the crosswalk and into the small cul-de-sac across from Hyde Park. "Tada! It's that one!" She pointed towards that green and red colored home between two houses of near equal size. It was nice to be back home, even more so with her best friend in tow.
