Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
As Miya wrenches up the door into Arlo's room, the small woman is practically panting as she realizes her roommate is already awake and striding for the door. She has to step out of his way as the man seems to be entirely preoccupied with something else. Flustered, she steps aside and follows him out into the living room, unable to get a sentence out as Arlo halts in front of her with that vampiric speed. Miya isn't quick enough to stop her own steps as she rams straight into the man's back, only now realizing her roommate didn't have any clothes on. She might have blushed furiously, might have demanded he put clothes on and yet, she was at the point of hysteria, her mouth parting open to speak only to be interrupted by the vampire's lyrics. The woman has every intention on explaining that a wild animal had gotten in through the window, and yet, she stops, mouth parted open as Arlo asks where... Abby was. Who was Abby? Hurt?
Confusion blooms across Miya's features, her mouth still open as her brows furrow at the man. When the vampire moves across the room in the direction of the bathroom, she finds her words then, "Arlo, no!" She shouts at him as she rushes towards him, though she's too late as the man actually takes the door off its hinges, causing Miya to stop again with surprise. It had taken her sometime to come to terms with Arlo being a vampire but there were still things that he did that surprised her... like the strength her had shown, Arlo hardly batting an eye at it. She's torn between wanting to retrieve that broom or even her pepper spray as she remains outside the bathroom, chewing on her bottom lip in contemplation. The small woman stands there for far too long as Arlo exits the bathroom with that animal in his arms, as he softly coos to the animal. Miya is utterly dumbstruck as she steps out of the way again, that panda so curled up in Arlo's arms looking terrified, her fur fluffed up.
Blinking at the absurd situation she has so found herself in, she hesitantly moves closer, to stand behind the sofa, peering over Arlo's shoulders only to have Arlo turn on her, those predatory eyes holding nothing human in them as he pulls those lips back in a snarl, baring his fangs at Miya and a hiss escapes his lips. The attack from the alleyway comes rushing back, unbidden, fear drenching her scent as she stumbles back, away from Arlo, only to trip over the upturned chair and fall on her bottom. Her entire body his shaking from the ordeal as she sits there, attempting to gather her wits, chocolate eyes wide. Though, she knew Arlo wouldn't hurt her, she was unable to erase that terror the grips her in those moments. It wasn't as if Arlo knew she had been attacked by another vampire, she hardly had seen him. Yet, she hears Arlo's next set of words as he apologizes, stumbling over his sentence. Miya merely gives a meek nod, pushing herself to a standing position, her legs entirely too shaky to hold her weight as she grasps the upturned chair.
Once she feels suitably stable, she picks the chair up and puts it back in its normal position, standing behind it as if it would protect her from the situation that was unfolding in their apartment. The Asian woman hardly says anything as she watches the curious interaction between the panda and her roommate. Truly, she didn't know how to put what she was seeing into words, even when the man yanks that glass shard from the animal's paw, only to press said paw to his mouth, licking that blood. Miya's jaw actually drops open, her eyes widening in horror as her brain process every disease that could be spread to the man! She wants to stop him, to shout at him, to do... something and yet, she can't. She's frozen in place, her hands gripping the back of that chair, still wary from the man's outburst. Its then that Arlo pierces his own flesh, only to massage his blood into that pad. "Arlo! What are you doing?" She finally finds her voice, though there is a shakiness to it that hadn't been there before. "You can't... you're going to get a disease!" She tells him from the safety behind her chair.
When Arlo finally finishes his administrations and turns back to Miya, she can't help but take a step back, feeling uncomfortable under his gaze. Perhaps she was a little afraid of her roommate now. As he drops several questions, Miya frowns at him, her eyes darting to the panda nestled in his arms now. "Forget it," she bites out, neither accepting nor denying his apology as she stands on the other side of the room, regarding the unlikely pair before her. "Who's Abby?" She asks suddenly, only for her eyes to land on the panda again, "Wait... is that Abby? You named her?" Miya asks, incredulity coloring her voice. "Arlo, I asked you not to let animals into the apartment! We could get evicted! This is that wild animal from those photos you showed me, isn't it?" Miya demands, her eyes hardening, her fear forgotten in that moment as her arms cross over her chest. Truly, the woman had no idea if she were angry or frightened. Perhaps a bit of both.
