Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
Arlo James
See what it's like to be a vulture's lunch
Sebastian's near careful pronunciation of that French phrase he had only moments ago offered his husband readily saw Arlo's own features scrunch slightly in some effort to get his far lazier tongue around that foreign word. The elder vampires insistence it was merely another way of saying 'my dear' prompted the lift of a singular blue eye as Arlo settled himself on the fence beside that stable. His own shoulders lifting in a shrug of sorts in response to that impromptu language lesson.
"Sounds like some sort of pasta or something if you ask me."
The language of love, it seemed, was lost on a man the likes of Arlo. The Crusnik was hardly willing to admit he was pretty sure it sounded girly too, lest Sebastian take offense to it. Maybe once you married another man you were allowed to use slightly feminine phrases. Maybe it was a rule or something. His own head shook lightly as if to dismiss the thought, his attention returned to that horse Sebastian insisted was pinning. Arlo mostly sure he couldn't tell the difference between a pinning horse and a regular horse and yet the animal was staring off in the direction the other horses had gone- almost exactly in the same fashion Sebastian was. The similarities between man and horse were hardly missed by the younger vampire, that chuckle finding his lips right along with that ready tease that Seb was no damn better than his bloody pony when it came to missing his partner. Arlo reaching out a moment later to shove his companions shoulder in that near playful fashion and to draw Seb's attention away from that retreating form off his husband. He had hardly anticipated any more then the roll of Sebastian's eyes, the other vampire suddenly shoving him back with enough force to send Arlo tumbling backward off that fence with a yelp of surprise. The Crusnik no sooner having hit the ground then that call for the horse echoed within his ears.
"No! Don't bloody call it you right muppet, it might get me!"
Arlo's limbs flailed near comically in that moment as he struggled to roll over onto his hands and knees and scramble with vampiric speed under that fence and to the perceived safety of the other side before that horse could reach him. That the mare had hardly moved from her position at the other end of the yard had hardly occurred to him, Arlo gripping that fence rail as he hauled himself up, his hands reaching down to dust the earth and sand from his jeans and shirt. Sebastian was offered that near wary look as Arlo made an effort to resituate himself on that fence once more, his hands, this time, more firmly gripping that top railing just incase Seb felt the need to afford a repeat performance. Even if, maybe, he had deserved that one. Still, this seemed as good a time as any to at least assure his companion he had managed to get that paperwork Seb had said he needed. Maybe now, finally, they could do something about that music and those songs he was mostly sure he was owed after all these years. Arlo paused in those bussiness discussions only to ask Sebastian about that honeymoon. The other vampires mention of that time spent at the beach seeing Arlo frown in turn. Why would Seb want to go to the beach at night? There was nothing good about the beach then. It was cold and dark and well, not really that fun. At least, Arlo didn't think so. The younger vampire hardly seeming to notice that near falter in his companions words as Sebastian simply insisted he liked the sound of the ocean.
"Huh, fair enough I guess."
It still seemed a weird choice of holiday destination and yet hey, maybe Seb really did just like the sound of the ocean. Besides, there was nothing to say Dorian didn't enjoy the sun during the day himself while Seb slept. Arlo, for now, seemingly content to let the topic slide in favour of that mention of a new puppy. One he fully intended on going to find once they went back inside. He'd hardly anticipated Sebastian and Dorian getting another dog and yet it wasn't as if they were lacking the space or anything. Arlo quite unable to keep that grin from his lips at the idea of those dogs collapsed on the kitchen tile. Any further thought he might have had on those very animals however was abruptly ceased by Sebastian's asking after Abby. That previous grin he had worn suddenly seemed to grow all the more into a perfectly toothy smile at the mere mention off his Little Bear. Even that trip back to his hometown had hardly lessened that emotion he felt for her and really, by some small miracle, Abby had hardly seemed any worse off after having dealt with his own family in all their....unpleasantness. Arlo making some attempt all the same brush over that entire encounter lest he subject Sebastian to it as well. Then again, who better to understand then another vampire? How many vampires had good relationships with their families? Probably not that many. Blood drinking never really went down all that well with anyone. Kinda a mood killer that. Still, he'd hardly anticipated those nearly sage words from his companion, Arlo glancing sideways to meet the elder vampires gaze then, that lopsided grin finding his lips at those very words.
"That ain't a bad way to think of it really. When did you get so philosophical, eh?"
He appreciated the words, even despite that jibe. Maybe Sebastian was right anyway. Maybe he didn't....need that family anymore. At least, they had moved on without him and maybe it was damn well time he did the same. If Abby was his new family then maybe that was the one he should be focusing more of his attention on. That thought was somehow almost....soothing, as odd as it was. Still, Sebastian was right (again), that whole trip hadn't provena total waste, he had managed to get those papers if nothing else and that mini vacation afterwards had been equally as nice even if it had taken him a day or so to get back to his usual self. Which had prompted whole series of other problems to begin with. Namely that veritable obsession he now had over his Little Bear. Christ, he was out of control when it came to her. He could barely stand to have anyone look at her without wanting to rip their heads off and that aggressiveness- even in his youngest vampire days had never.....been him. He could hardly help that near cautious way he offered those very concerns to the Englishman then. Arlo half expecting Sebastian to react, well, badly to that very admittance that he occasionally considered killing people if only because they had committed the crime of existing in Abigail's space. The intensity of those emotions almost suffocating and hell- it was starting to freak even him out. Not that he'd managed to stop it. That sudden laughter that fell from Sebastian prompting that scowl to Arlo's features.
"What are you laughing at!? This is serious, I- oh."
He hadn't anticipated Sebastian would be that relaxed about those very admittances. The elder vampire hardly seeming concerned in the least, brushing over those very tendencies as little more than vampiric nature before mentioning his coven leader and the pleasure he'd taken out of flirting with the object of the man's affections if only to upset him. Sebastian, he was sure, for all his airs and graces- seemed to have a real enjoyment of playing with fire. Cocky bastard. Still, he was mostly sure people like Seb got away with that. Arlo willing to admit he did see the amusement there. The Crusnik about to comment on that territorial obsession, as Seb called it, when the rest of the englishman's sentence seemed to find him. His gaze flicked back to Sebastian' own.
"What do you mean 'the one'? The one what?"
'The one?' Like....the one you....married? Was he giving off some sort of...marriage vibe Seb could detect? Did his vampire sense make him act like this because some instinctive part of him wanted to marry Abby? He'd barely even thought about that! It hadn't even crossed his mind. Marriage was so....adult. God he could feel himself breaking out in a sweat at the thought of it- or he would, if he could have sweated that easily. It was hardly that he didn't like Abby, hell, he liked her more than any other girl he had ever dated. It was just that the idea of her being 'the one' just seemed so sudden and unexpected and....maybe she really was. Maybe he'd simply never thought about it until that very moment in time. That very realisation seeming to dawn on him all at once. God. Maybe she really was the one....after all this time. Arlo was content, for several moments, to merely state into the gardens of that lavish estate, the young man attempting to work his thoughts into something orderly. Maybe Abby really was the one. That sensation of....warmth settling somewhere within his chest before he seemed to remember exactly where he was, his head shaking as he turned back toward Sebastian.
"Don't you go saying anything about this to Ab's though, bud."
He was mostly sure Sebastian wouldnt and yet he knew the other vampire had some kind of women....compelling....power all the same. Still, the very idea of Sebastian hissing at someone saw that grin return to Arlo's features all the same. The vampire snorting slightly as that chuckle hummed between his teeth.
"You hissed at a chick? That seems so....undignified for you, although to be fair I guess you had a point with the whole...fire thing. Does Dorian know? About the possessive territorial thing, I mean? Is he just....cool with that?"
Would Abby be cool with it? Was he even supposed to attempt to explain it? It wasn't as if he'd killed anyone over it yet and yet if Seb was right, if it was because he was a young vampire then, well, it could be a hell of a long time before he grew out of it. How many more years was he going to have to spend growling at every man, woman and child who looked at Abby the wrong way? The last thing he needed was to freak Abby herself out. This vampire thing wasn't all that easy. Arlo shifted slightly on the fence then, his grip still remaining firm all the same to prevent himself tumbling back into that horse pen, his mind very near akin to a waterfall of thoughts that seemed to be going in every direction all at once.
"I've got those papers inside, if you want to take a look at them, bud. Although, you know, when Ab's and I were driving home from seeing my parents we got to talking about you and Dorian, nothing bad, don't worry. You know how Abby is into like biology and all that though yeah? Has anyone ever told you that your not a regular vampire? I mean, Abby and I kinda think your not and you just haven't realised it. We have theory."
