Sacrosanct contains four distinct neighborhoods, each with their own specific kind of houses and residents. Explore our districts, view lists of our citizens and enjoy our block parties!
Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
i'll spend forever wondering if you knew
Samantha Cassidy
that i was enchanted to meet you
The very notion of being back within Dorian's good graces was enough to bring a smile to the features of the mother-to-be. A year ago, she might have thought that this very conversation would be impossible - to be both back within Sacrosanct and pregnant - much less to be happy about it. But Samantha had, surprisingly, found joy in her life with Kit - a joy that she was so happy to gush to her dear friend about. That her pregnancy was rare was not a surprise to her, nor that her child was a great blessing. She didn't share those other feelings, the ones that came from thoughts that her child might have saved her life. After all, she brought her back to connecting with others once more, didn't she? No longer would it be possible for Samantha to avoid people out of fear of getting hurt. The very notion that she would share any name they decided on with him was one that Dorian seemed pleased with, and how easily that conversation settled into the reassurances that they would always be friends, regardless of the time and situation that would pass between them.
That he did not find much amusement from television hardly surprised her. "If you remember correctly, I had three television shows that I enjoyed. I think I'd prefer to have tea and soon, play with my little one." Though Samantha was certain that Dorian had settled into the modern world and would not need as much explanation about television shows, the young woman would be content for any time spent with the Monarch, the young woman happy to insist that anything that could be done to help Dorian settle into his role as the Monarch of Italy. The request that escaped Dorian's lips made Samantha sit up straighter, the surprise on her features only aiding the Fae King in finding jest at her expense. The laughter that escaped him was a welcome one, Samantha easily joining him in laughter as she, too, expressed surprise with the ease in which Dorian joked with her. "I love that you can make jokes now. If you remember correctly, I'm naturally quite sarcastic. I am, however, forever sad that someone corrected you on the true nature of the kingdom of which I am Queen." Her smile grew at the memory of the early days of their friendship. How things had changed!
"You don't have to buy her anything, Dorian. You agreeing to be godfather was all that I needed," Samantha insisted, though given the quiet, reflective nature of the fae beside her, she was sure that it fell upon deaf ears. All the girl could hope for now was that the gift would be... useable? Surely Dorian knew that infants didn't need a boar's head or something of the sort. Still, the conversation shifted easily to the baptism that would likely occur after the birth of her daughter. Samantha nodded, entirely willing to relinquish the planning of the affair to more capable hands. Truthfully, other than knowing she wanted to have something for her daughter, the young woman had no idea what exactly that occasion would look like. "That would be helpful, I haven't really... I haven't been to any of the local churches, and it wouldn't be appropriate to take her to New York for that kind of event. You can even pick out the church, if you would like." Though the young mother certainly wanted that for her child, she couldn't deny that other reason she had asked Dorian to take on such an important role in her child's life.
Though it was, admittedly, unlikely that he would ever be called up to act upon such a role, there was a comfort in the certainty that her daughter would be cared for if her parents ever faced certain doom. Samantha picked anxiously at the hem of her skirt as that look of bewilderment settled upon her companion's features, the woman sure that he would change his mind in the wake of that responsibility. The empath was well aware of the variety of emotions that flickered through her companion, as well as the soft way that he spoke her name. The fae's gaze looked up, meeting Dorian's as he spoke the words that were... expected. Why not Troy and Amelia? He was right, that they were the first choice, the obvious choice. And yet...
"I have nothing against Amelia or Troy, and of course I'd want them involved in her life as much as possible," Samantha explained, twisting a lock of her red hair around her fingers anxiously. "But they have a child, and one who needs... significantly more protection than a typical child would. I just... they have their hands full already. And there is no one I trust in this world more than you, Dorian. I understand why you need to discuss it with Sebastian, but I hope that you'll say yes regardless. I... I can't imagine a person that would be better suited for the role of godparent than you."
The young woman was more than willing to drop the conversation there, assured that Dorian would come to her with an answer after discussing the situation with his husband. Samantha relaxed upon the couch, turning her attention to the King's situation in Italy and the disastrous outbreak that had struck the world at large. How stressful it must have been for a world leader, particularly one who had just discovered electricity a number of years ago. Samantha fell silent as Dorian explained the situation that he was in, though she couldn't contain the surprise at hearing that Tetradore... her Aiden... had lived within the home of the Italian King. It was no surprise, she supposed, she had seen the absence of the Ark upon the Western shores, but she'd never expected to find him here, of all places. And with his... oh, how the mention of a girlfriend caused a pang in Samantha's chest that she hadn't truly prepared for.
"I... I can't imagine the pressure that you're under. It is enough of a nightmare without being responsible for anyone's life but my own. But I'm sure that Sebastian has been helpful, no?" Truthfully, the young mother-to-be was unsure of what to say to comfort someone in Dorian's position, especially in such an unimaginable circumstance. "I am so pleased that you found your family though, for what it is worth, even if it blows my mind that you and Aide... Tetradore, I mean, are family." There were thousands of questions that Samantha wished to ask her companion - who was his girlfriend? Was he happy? Was he here now? - And yet all of those questions were distinctly not her business, not any longer. "Tell me, have they let you learn to drive yet? Or ride a bicycle bike?"
