South

The southern part of the city has a chic family-oriented sort of charm to it. Here, small locally owned shops run rampant, neighbors often know each other by name, and the monthly socials are an event not to be missed. In the South, children can often be seen safely playing in the park or on sidewalks and in the weekends, families often take to the beach to enjoy the warm waters surrounding the city.

Emmy was trying to be friendly, to try and make polite conversation while they both wait for the same bus. She looks to him, hoping that he'd give his name in a proper response. But he says nothing. He simply offers her a smile through almost gritted teeth. She sighs as she looks out at the street. She has her hands in her lap, her thumbs fiddling with one another. She's never been one to be silent, but she's finding it difficult to engage in conversation with someone who truly wants nothing to do with her. So she besides to just be silent...at least as best as she can.

She watches as another bus rolls towards the stop. She leans forward, hoping that it's their bus so she can climb aboard and get home. But as it pulls up beside the bus stop, she sighs. It's not their bus. She smiles politely as some people climb off the bus, no doubt tired from a long day of work at the office. They offered a polite smile, but say nothing as they walk towards their homes.

And then the bus rolls away and Emmy is left still sitting here in silence with another soul who would rather be anywhere but here. She pulls out her cell phone, flipping through her apps to find something to occupy her time with. It wasn't until she heard her name that she slowly turned to look at the stranger beside her.

Emmy had hoped to hear a name escape his lips, but she's left still in the dark on the strangers name. Instead, he says something about her kind getting around more dignified than a bus. Something about the way he spoke made her uncomfortable. "What's that supposed to mean?" She tried not to sound harsh towards him, but it was rather difficult. It was almost as though he was profiling her. How could he possibly know that she was a witch? Was it that obvious?
