South

The southern part of the city has a chic family-oriented sort of charm to it. Here, small locally owned shops run rampant, neighbors often know each other by name, and the monthly socials are an event not to be missed. In the South, children can often be seen safely playing in the park or on sidewalks and in the weekends, families often take to the beach to enjoy the warm waters surrounding the city.

Ain't life just awful strange

a new world hangs outside the window
beautiful and strange
it must be I've fallen awake
I must be

It didn't take long for the tables to turn. The vampire was clearly aged at least a few hundred years, as his movements were expertly swift and executed more precisely and efficiently than the measly dark hunter. Buffy watched with interest from her out-in-the-open position in the grass, her grip tightening and loosening on her stake. She could feel the familiar sense of adrenaline flooding her body, which quickened her heartbeat and ultimately gave a louder voice to that internal itch. It begged her to jump in to the action. Nevertheless, she resisted.

Buffy chewed hard on the inside of her lip as she battled with herself to stay uninvolved. It was easy to come with a slew of reasons not to: For one, this dark hunter was a joke. He made mistake after mistake, and every time he opened his mouth, Buffy visibly cringed at his corny, cocky, one-liners. She had no interest in aiding such a fool. And the blond vampire made it clear early on that he wasn't going to be easy to overcome. The outlook for this strange dark hunter certainly did not look good.

But much to her surprise, the vampire showed an uncharacteristic display of mercy, after he easily apprehended the hunter. As he described her as merely a "pretty girl", the old-timey "maiden in distress" routine, Buffy quite visibly rolled her big brown eyes. A part of her wished the vampire would just take the jerk out, and put them all out of their misery of having to have dealt with him at all. Buffy's eyes locked onto the vampire's steely cool ones for a second and she swallowed hard against a lump that had grown in her throat. She immediately shifted her gaze elsewhere.

The thin dark hunter took a deep breath and began to gather her things as the vampire let go of the hunter. She slung her bag across her back. Whatever this was, it was an interesting distraction. But it seemed there was no reason left to linger. She should get home. Buffy made it a few steps away before she heard the dark hunter call out to her in one last desperate plea. A mischievous grin spread across her lips before she turned easily on her heels to face the two men again, now several feet away. "In your fuckin' dreams, amateur." She spat back coolly.

She let her gaze fall back onto the vampire for a moment, and she sized him up once or twice. "You better get out of here." She offered in warning. Not that he couldn't take that hunter again, if he were to stupidly try. But one complaint to the Council and this idiot could put a bounty on this vampire's head.
