South

The southern part of the city has a chic family-oriented sort of charm to it. Here, small locally owned shops run rampant, neighbors often know each other by name, and the monthly socials are an event not to be missed. In the South, children can often be seen safely playing in the park or on sidewalks and in the weekends, families often take to the beach to enjoy the warm waters surrounding the city.

Ashton was finding that he was rather fond of the small family that he had met today at the beach. The children were just darling, making him realize how much he missed being around them and how much he wanted to eventually have some of his own. And their mother was a kind soul, someone he admired for being able to handle two toddlers that likely pulled her in every direction except the same direction.

Eyes rested on the small little girl as she played innocently on top of his surf board. At her mother's suggestion that she finish her sand castle, the little one pouted and began to toss as much sand on his surfboard as she could. She was a darling child and he could see the glimmer of defiance in her eyes. She would be a handful when she was older. As she was told if she was good, she would get to see him again, Ashton smiled at her. He would not mind seeing her again either.

Eyes turned back to Nadya as she said that if he was still interested in teaching, the pool at the community center was open in the afternoons. He nodded his head. "I'd like that. How about Friday afternoons? Say around four?" He hoped that would be an agreeable time for her. Then again, he wasn't working yet so he was really free any day.

He took the business card she produced and looked at it. He took note of her name and phone number and looked back up to her with a smile. She said that she would compensate him and he shook his head. "There's no need for that ma'am. If I can get them in the water, that will be enough compensation." Ashton had never been one to ask for payment on small favors such as these. He probably should, though, considering he was broke and had no job.

He smiled up at her when she claimed it was nice to meet him. He took her hand and shook it, offering just enough pressure to show that he too was happy that he had met her today. "It's nice to meet you too. Until next time." And then he watched her head off after Izzy, the child bringing a soft chuckle from his lips. He sighed softly as he turned away from the small family and headed towards the ocean for a swim.
