There was a sort of restlessness that had all but invaded the soul of the young man as he leaned against those sparkling kitchen countertops. It had been nearly two weeks since he had officially broken things off with Henry - the man's infidelity when he had so needed his boyfriend the apparent final straw in their already fractured relationship. His trip away with Harley had done them both some good, as she filled him in her own apparent transformation into the supernatural - not that he hadn't felt something had been distinctly off about her when she'd whisked him from his apartment. Henry still came by, however. Often, in fact, and yet Sterling had all but refused to see the man - to the point that he was contemplating asking for the locks to be changed. For now, however, without work to distract him, Sterling simply found himself yearning to be anywhere but the familiar flat that had been their shared home for some time now. He needed a place that wasn't tainted by those memories with Henry. A soft sigh left his lips as Sterling reached for the jacket he'd haphazardly tossed upon a bar stool at the kitchen counter the evening before. The fitted jacket smoothly slid on his frame as his glacier blue irises fluttered towards the open window of his flat. "Fiducia, I'm leaving." He informed the bird of prey that sat outside upon his balcony. He watched as those all too intelligent eyes turned towards him, the creature chirping as her own feathers ruffled in that simple gesture that informed him well she would be following - in the same way she always did.
It hardly took the boy long to emerge from his apartment building, the warlock simply breathing in that frigid winter air. There was snow in the forecast today and yet, Sterling was certain he'd be home before the first flakes fell. He wandered near purposelessly down the sidewalk of the Western side, his gaze drifting from the storefronts with vague interest only to turn to the very skies to spot his own beloved Osprey so studiously keeping watch over him. The very sound of her occasional calls prompted a small simper upon his features. After all, when Sterling had been left on his own to heal from that near traumatic mauling, it had been his familiar alone that had kept him company. Her presence was nothing short of comforting now. Slowly, Sterling meandered further down the Western wharf, the man inattentive as he crossed that invisible boundary from West to South. It was, rather, a curious sound from his bird that drew his gaze from the pier's foodstands. She'd found something, hadn't she? Sterling's eyebrows furrowed as he followed the very cry of his bird, the Osprey settling, quite curiously on several stone creatures of sea mammals in front of a large blue building. The Aquarium? He hadn't even realized Sacrosanct had an aquarium, though it wasn't often he supposed that he ventured to this part of town, even though he could see the hulking form of the Ark in the distance. Still, perhaps the Aquarium would prove to be the exact sort of distraction he needed.
A faint simper crept across the warlock's features as he made his way inside, all the while knowing well Fiducia would remain somewhere on the roof of the building, waiting for his return. It was only after paying that admission price that Sterling was allowed to freely roam the exhibits of the build, the man eying with fascination the saltwater fish with their bright vibrant colors. He meandered with ease through the building, following the tubes of water lit up for those fanciful jellyfish till he was greeted with two large doors that led to the exhibits that faced the outside. And oh those creatures the aquarium featured! From the dolphins to the porpoises - the turtles and manta rays and sea otters! It was an undeniably fantastic aquarium, by all means. It was fortunate, perhaps, that Sterling had arrived just in time for the seals' exhibit, the creatures all but entranced by that fish to perform their array of tasks for the eager and awaiting crowd. However, it was one particularly observant bird that caught his attention as his gaze fluttered towards Fiducia. The Osprey, it seemed, had found a nearby perch upon the edge of the tank, her talons gripping the glass to balance herself and yet, there was no denying that it was the fish she so keenly watched - as if contemplating her very capability to steal them from the mouths of those performing seals. A soft chuckle left his lips as Sterling lingered beside the tank, simply watching those mammals for some time. How happy they seemed...how much....simpler their lives were.
Slowly, Sterling meandered towards a nearby bench, simply settling upon it as his glacier blue irises simply followed one of the seal in his happy frolicking within the water. Fiducia seemed all too content to settle beside him, the bird's head shifting every which way ever so often in some keen attentiveness that Sterling sorely lacked. It wasn't until a young woman settled upon a bench not terribly far from his own that Sterling had some inkling of a consideration. His gaze shifted from the aquatic mammals towards the Osprey at his side in silent contemplation, only for the man to rise to a stand. The action alone sent Fiducia flying, her wings flapping as she took to the air. "Excuse me," Sterling uttered as he approached the woman, certain he had seen her before at the seals' exhibit earlier. "Do you happen to know what sort of fish it is they were feeding them?" He inquired, nodding briefly towards those seals. After all, if Fiducia was so interested in those fish, maybe it wouldn't be so bad to treat them both to a seafood dinner.
