death incarnate & night triumphant
His meetings had not been going well. The local lords of Somnia were entirely blinded by their hatred of species that did not belong to the faerie race. An immortal headache was quite nearly impossible and yet... Andras could feel the beginnings of one spreading to his temples. His patience was beginning to wear thin and he had made no more progress today than he did in the last four months he had been attempting to sway them. As the High Lord he could easily bend them to his will, though he was certain he would simply lose the respect of the locals... and their trust. It wasn't something he was willing to give up after the several centuries he had to work to earn it in the first place. After his father's reign, it was no easy thing to rebuild a court from the ground up, to cleanse the corruption and still there was darkness that lingered even in the new world he had created.
Sighing, he runs a hand through his dark hair, the strands askew as he slides his arms along the backside of the bench. Bringing his ankle up to his knee, he tilts his head back to watch the slowly brightening sky. Andras had needed a reprieve from the meetings, not wanting to be within the confines of his home lest he allow his temper to get the best of him again. He very much doubted he would have Matteo around every time he needed to blow off steam. Still, it wasn't as if the male were angry... merely frustrated with the outcome of the meetings, he had hoped to have gained some ground at least by now. He forces another breath through his slightly parted lips, dark hazel eyes slitted against the sky as he watches a lazy cloud drift across the great expanse. His delicately pointed ears pick up the gentle sounds of the awakening birds, early risers that had decided to go for a run and the breeze rustling through the leaves. It was quite nearly a song to him, how his back itched to release those monstrous wings, to be soaring across the treetops. A silly notion, thoughts he constantly had and the ancient faerie knew better, to not expose himself and yet, he had. On several occasions in this very forest. Perhaps not the smartest move, making him reckless in a sense, though, he sometimes couldn't curve those wants of his.
This time, Andras simply shoves those thoughts away and locks them tightly, suppressing any urge to go flying. Instead, he relaxes slightly, enjoying the morning sounds, eyes closing briefly. He looks almost like a statue in that moment... a meticulously dressed statue in a suit, without a speck of dust on it. He remains like that for a moment, just as his ears pick up a sound much closer to him, right before he flares his nostrils and takes in the scent of the nearby... faerie. Surprised, he raises his brows as he tilts his head up, opening his eyes lazily as he glances to his side, revealing a dark-haired female making her way towards the bench. Andras had hardly been searching for any faeries as of late within the confines of the city, the male far too busy to do anything other than keep his court running. The chances of him running into another Fae was... surprising, suspicious almost. After the recent attack on Lani, the man had become a bit more wary and yet, he hardly felt any maliciousness wafting off this woman. As she takes a seat, Andras hardly moves, though his predatory gaze turns on her a grin so stretching across his lips, though he's careful to keep the smile from his eyes, giving him an almost cold detachment.
Her brief greeting has his ears perking up at her accent, something he hadn't heard before as she casually rolls her 'r's. "Good morning," his dark voice drawls, his deep tenors vibrating between them, "I can't say I've run into a faerie before without intentionally seeking them out here in Sacrosanct," he says, his own ancient accent coating his words. Tilting his head, he regards her patiently, removing his arms from the back of the bench to lean forward slightly. "You are not from here," he states rather than asks, that cool smile still dancing upon his lips.
