South

The southern part of the city has a chic family-oriented sort of charm to it. Here, small locally owned shops run rampant, neighbors often know each other by name, and the monthly socials are an event not to be missed. In the South, children can often be seen safely playing in the park or on sidewalks and in the weekends, families often take to the beach to enjoy the warm waters surrounding the city.

You're a Really Old Man

Two thousand years. Two thousand years?! That is absolutely crazy! Just think of all the things he got to witness. He got to witness Rome being a vast and mighty empire that eventually crumbled. The beginning and end of the Crusades. Genghis Khan creating the largest empire in history. The Renaissance period and the Bubonic plague. Not to mention all the new technology that arrived from the printing press, to machines, electricity, to now. He got to live through it all. An actual living textbook of the World's History. How impressive and yet how sad it must truly be, to exist all this time. Although at least he had Alexander. I mean who else would he be able to chat with about something that occurred where no one else would comprehend or even know! Although Alexander doesn't really seem like the type that speaks a whole lot, but I at least Matteo has someone. You know what would be absolutely hysterical, is if Matteo stepped into a history professor's class, and easily correct the man on what actually happened during that historical event. It would be funny to the students, but not so much to the professor...who would surely be pulling his hair out from frustration. The mention if I knew about Julius Caesar was answered with a vigorous nod of my head. Who hasn't heard of that tyrant?!

"Two thousand years old you say? You've seen a whole lot. I'm sure there are things you miss and would like some things to return? And of course I know of Julius Caesar! He helped initiate the end of the Republic so that he could become a dictator of an Empire. He conquered nearly everything in Gaul. He fell in love with the Egyptian Queen, Cleopatra and of course he was assassinated on the Ides of March by his friend and other members of the Senate. Although, there is the myth that Brutus was his illegitimate son....is that true?"

Everyone knew about Julius Caesar. He was the Roman Emperor that everyone knew or would at least name. Plus, everyone had to read Shakespeare and he wrote about the assassination. Not to mention there was the Cesar dressing for a salad. Although I do wonder whether or not if Brutus truly was a son of his, boy would that be crazy! To survive all this time though is quite an impressive feat. The Roman Empire fiasco, the The Crusades, Mongol Conquests, Black Plague, The 100 Year War, The French Revolution, the World Wars, the Cold War, just...everything. He would have to be clever to survive it all! After all, you can't just hide under a rock. I guess it is a good thing that he met up with Alexander, in whichever way it occurred. As he reached out for my mane I didn't bother to pull away. Standing quietly I let him to whatever it was he was trying to do, curious as to why he would be playing with my mane. I think it's really nice that he gave me a war braid, a war braid! I mean how freaking cool is that! I'm not going into any war any time soon, but it is nice to have. I wonder what it looks like.

"Yea, Mom said it's tradition for us to have angelic names. She never told me why though. And why should stallions have all the fun? Thank you for braiding my mane, is there any way I can see how it looks?"

I can't help but tilt my head to the side curious as to how he was going to obey my request. It was his suggestion to go for a ride that made me stand still and point my ears straight at him. A ride? A ride? Raising my head I released a very excited squeal. I get to go for a ride! Happily I move around him in a very tight circle, bumping my nose into his side all excited.

"A ride, really? Yea sure, but I don't have a saddle or anything on me. You took all that off. When can we go for a ride? Can we go right now?! What are we going to do? Where are we going to go?"

Coming to a quick halt, I snort softly and stare at him, waiting with anticipation for his answer.
