As soon as she was done rubbing in the sunscreen, he felt himself inwardly sigh in relief. Her hands on him was doing a number on him. Between her hands and her nearly naked body, he was finding it hard to properly resist her. If it wasn't for his morals, he would have swept her off her feet and taken her back to his apartment and had his way with her. His mind had already thought about that scenario even if his heart was telling him no. It was so confusing but he was trying to make sense of it. Something told him that she felt the same way. The subtle change in her breathing was detectable. Perhaps she liked him just as much as he liked her. Perhaps he should finally try to make the jump from friendship to relationship. Would she accept such a leap? Was it too early? Did she even care for him in that manner? So many questions and the only way he would truly find out was to simply ask her.
But right now was not the time. She wanted to see him surf and he was thankful for the distraction. Surfing helped to clear his mind and no doubt that would be good for him right about now. "Alright. I'll surf a couple of waves and then we can build sand castles." He couldn't remember the last time he had ever played in the sand. Surely it was when he was a boy.
He stood up from the towel and brushed off some of the sand as he turned towards her. He extended his hand to help her up before he reached for the surf board with the other. He began to walk towards the ocean, his hand still holding onto hers. This was the first real test. Would she pull away from his touch? Would she intertwine her fingers with his? He was eager to find out.
