South

The southern part of the city has a chic family-oriented sort of charm to it. Here, small locally owned shops run rampant, neighbors often know each other by name, and the monthly socials are an event not to be missed. In the South, children can often be seen safely playing in the park or on sidewalks and in the weekends, families often take to the beach to enjoy the warm waters surrounding the city.

Raylin Chike

Raylin had not expected to wake up this morning imagining she would die. The human woman hardly thought of death in any sense, never having a real death to remember in her short life. Her grandparents were still alive, her parents still worked their lives away and she was an only child. She never even had pets growing up, the small family moving far too much to make a home for an animal. No... Raylin has never experienced death, not until she moved to this city. No amount of convincing from her parents could change her mind after she announced she was moving to the city. Not just any city. The city with the most infestation of supernaturals. It seemed like a good idea at the time to the woman... and perhaps she would come to regret that decision... if she wasn't already.

The pain was excruciating as she sags in his arms, nothing could prepare her for the way those fangs tear into her skin as blood drenches her shirt. Not even a scream could rip from her throat as she slouches into Darcy, hardly realizing the way his arms tighten further around her body. A ragged whimper releases from her lips just as she squeezes the trigger, the sound echoing all around them. Dropping to the ground, she scrambles as far away as she can, only to turn and raise that sleek pistol again. A scream tears from her throat as she shoots the vampire and by some miracle she hits him square in the shoulder. As the gunshot fades, her arm drops to the ground as she presses a hand into her ruined shoulder, stifling a groan. Silence falls between them as Darcy glances between his shoulder and him, his southern lyrics casting out. Eyes wide, she watches him, her fingers still wrapped around the cold metal.

She wasn't expecting the animalistic roar that breaks the silence next, her fear level sky rocketing as she tries to scramble backwards. Her breathings turns ragged, her body all but gasping for air as she tries to scramble away and yet, there's nothing she can do to get away from him. Her brain can hardly keep up with what's going on she doesn't even think to shoot again as he simply appears in front of her again. She doesn't have time to prepare herself mentally for the pain that is about to tear through her as Darcy reaches down and grasps her by her ruined shoulder and hoisting her into the air. A blood curdling scream releases from her throat as she drops the gun and grasping wildly at his arm to try and ease the pain. Black spots dot her vision and she's vaguely aware of the words that leave his lips. Raylin can't think of anything other than how to get the pain to stop. "Please, stop it! It hurts!" She sobs at him, as tears pour down her face. She would beg... she would do anything to get this nightmare to end.

She's on the brink of losing conscious and she's hardly aware of the new vampire that appears near them. The yelling of the man manages to grab a small portion of her attention, Raylin sure she would pass out from the pain at any moment. Oh god, maybe this person was her savior. "Please... help me," she whimpers pathetically, her fingers still scrabbling at Darcy's hand. He was going to tear her arm off, she was sure of it. Ray doesn't catch much of the one sided conversation, although... her brain pieces together that "Colt" was not his real name, something she would remember after she woke up. Groaning, her eyes roll towards the back of her head, why she was fighting to remain conscious was beyond her. Raylin catches bits and pieces of the conversation before Darcy suddenly releases her, her body collapsing to the ground into a nearly lifeless heap. A small whimper escapes her as she lays on her side, her head spinning with pain and blood loss, a shaky hand coming up to press into her shoulder again.

The glare is all but unseen as her cheek presses against the asphalt, eyes closed as she draws in ragged breaths. It was a... miracle she was still alive. An even larger miracle that Darcy was leaving. His absence isn't immediately noticed as she sobs into the cold hard ground. How she desperately wanted to die where she was! Yet... it was the thought that she didn't want to die that jumps into her mind and she was almost certain she would be dead before the sun rose if she didn't find help.
