Raylin Chike
Was this how she was going to die? Sprawled on a dock in the dark, just feet away from someone who could help her? It was a cruel joke. She had made it so far, only to be left here to die. It was, perhaps, something she would be more angry about and yet, the amount of blood loss was rapidly making her exhaustion all the more prominent. Her body was cooling quickly and if she had the energy left in her to shiver, her body would be wracking with shudders as the kiss of the sea breeze tears away the last remnants of warmth. Laying her cheek against the smooth dock, she allows her eyes to close, she needed to rest for only a moment, though, somewhere in the back of her mind she was screaming at herself to get up, knowing if she fell asleep she would be lost forever. Her body won this time. Or at least, she thought it did until a wet nose nudges at her arm.
She wanted to lift her hand to push away the wetness, she was so cold. Raylin couldn't even summon up the energy to push Barney away, no, she just wanted to sleep. Wait, why was Barney here? His loud bark pulls her back from the edge of sleep enough, though she doesn't pry open her eyes, there is still a bit of awareness left in her. That's right, she was at Brennan's... looking for help? Why did she need help again? Oh, how her head hurt! The vibrations in the deck are lost on Raylin as Brennan thunders down the dock until he reaches her limp body. His utterance miraculously reaches her ears, though in her current state of... confusion, her lips pull into a weak smile, eyes still closed, "Land shark... had lots of... teeth," she breathes out, only for a groan to follow shortly after. "I want... sleep," she mutters, her body numbing from the blood loss every second.
The feeling of warmth envelopes her, her brain vaguely registering that Brennan had scooped her up, her head lolling against his chest as she moans quietly. Her one arm is piled in her lap, the other hanging limply at her side as Brennan makes quick work of transferring her inside the boat. His voice is distant as he demands she look at him though she doesn't have the energy to pry her eyes open. Oh, she tries to desperately and yet, the lull of sleep was calling her again. She feels the jostle of her body as she lain across the couch and the moment Brennan's heat vanishes from her body, she can't help but allow a whine to escape her lips at the loss of warmth. It hardly lasts long though as the comfort of the couch begins to envelope her body, oh how nice it felt!
She was on the cusp of falling into the dangerous sleep when pressure to her wound snaps her right back to consciousness, her eyes flying open as adrenaline hits her as she struggles wildly against the pain. "Holy fuck!" her shout leaves her lips, only for confusion to settle in on her. Struggling away from whatever was hurting her, she can hardly get far as another bout of pain races through her, rendering her unmovable, a groan escaping her throat as she weakly raises a hand to try and push at Brennan's arm uselessly. Brennan. What? Her chocolate eyes lift to meet his charming face, a wrinkle of pain creasing her forehead. His casual comment does what he intends with it, it distracts her even as memories of her night come rushing back. "Oh? And what look does suit me?" She asks between panting breaths, her arm falling limply back to her side as she tries to keep her eyes focused on the Irishman.
The moment Brennan applies more pressure to the wound, a yelp escapes her though she doesn't try to flee from his touch. "You know, I'm all for a little pain play... but this... this is a little too much," she weakly jokes between gritted teeth, even as her eyes unfocus, seemingly staring at nothing. Her brain was trying to process the pain and it was moments away from rendering her unconscious, she wasn't sure how much more she could take.
