To say these last few months had been...trying, well, that would have been an understatement. Two pregnancies later and nothing but a memorial stone at the edge of their property to show for it. Nadya had been bed bound for a month after the most reason loss; having labored for hours only to give birth to a 5 month premature stillborn daughter. It had ripped Nadya apart emotionally. The only saving grace was Frost's mother returning, helping with the twins and other pack related activities while Nadya was on bedrest.
Today she was feeling well enough to leave the house and it wasn't a day that Nadya wanted to miss either. Despite their loss, she still had 2 healthy children who needed her and today was a very special day for them. Nadya was grateful that Katrin had stayed, though she also figured the woman was just as excited to see Micah and Isabella's first event. Over the last year, the twins had worked hard learning everything Frost had to teach them when it came to riding. Now they were ready, according to Frost, and although Nadya was proud of them and excited for them...she was also nervous.
Nadya settled at the sidelines with Katrin amongst the rest of the crowd. A little boy atop his horse was currently weaving and jumping through the course. Some of those jumps looked far too high in her opinion. The nervousness for her children was hard to quell. "Are you sure those aren't too high? What if they fall? They could break something." Katrin didn't seem to share Nadya's worried musings. Nadya's gaze drifted to the barn in the distance where her children were surely getting ready under Frost's watchful eye.
Indeed the twins were ready, or at least Isabella was. They had ended up getting separate horses, having graduated from the little pony they had shared together not that long ago. Isabella barely passed the top of her chestnut mare's leg but there was no fear in her as she bounced excitedly on her heels beside the equine holding tight to the reins. The excited movements tugged and swayed at the bridle around the mare's head but the equine didn't seem to care, far used to her little owner's movements by now. It would be their turn soon and Isabella was more than ready. Her brother however was less than sure. Micah felt like he was going to puke. He may have only been 5 ½ but the risk of being in front of a bunch of people and messing up...he'd never get over the embarrassment. "What if I mess up?" Micah whispered and turned his gaze up to Frost who had been helping them get ready and would walk them to the ring when it was their turn. Micah's own black mare kept gently nudging his back, perhaps sensing his apprehension, but it did nothing to calm his nerves.
