South

The southern part of the city has a chic family-oriented sort of charm to it. Here, small locally owned shops run rampant, neighbors often know each other by name, and the monthly socials are an event not to be missed. In the South, children can often be seen safely playing in the park or on sidewalks and in the weekends, families often take to the beach to enjoy the warm waters surrounding the city.

bite me

The man stared at me as if trying to figure me out before finally saying that the past was the past. I don't know what self care had to do with anything, but I'll bite. "Self care can only stall the loneliness for a little while. How long as it lasted you?" I tilted my head, watching and waiting. At least he seemed to agree that the newspaper crew didn't have much more to write about. Well, they might have more if they actually knew half of what was going on beneath their noses in Sacrosanct. If they knew all the deep dark secrets of the netherworld that made up this city. Then they'd never have another dull article, but alas most of them were probably human and oblivious. Or some were supernatural and thought it best to hide in plain sight, something I understood all too well. The man took the comment about hiding one's identity in stride, all but bowing for show as he claimed no one could be him. I couldn't help the wry smirk on my lips. "Too true." He went on to brag a little bit, saying he did the shape shifting for fun and I arched a brow. "Then what makes you good?"

It was entertaining if nothing else, bantering back and forth with the man. I could tell he didn't like me holding the newspaper over him, wanting something in return for knowledge. I might as well get some information on the creature before me while I'm here. I asked if he could shift into animals and he sounded exasperated as he said to leave that to the Were's. Okay, so no check on the animal shifting, got it. My mind continued to mull over the possibilities while she chewed on the fact that I wasn't giving up the paper without getting what I was offered. When I wagged my finger, I'm pretty sure I saw his eyes darken. Amusement glittered in my own. Someone was getting impatient. When he asked about trust, I couldn't help but chuckle. "Why should I? You come to me an imposter. Nothing I see or hear is true." I raised a brow in challenge. I knew I had him in my web when I lowered my voice. He asked who I wanted him to be and I brought my hand up, gripping my chin as if in thought for a moment before my gaze went back to him.

"Yourself. I desire to know who I'm truly talking to." I wonder how often he got that request.
