and the stars in their orbits shone pale through the lightof the brighter, colder moon
The little fox was certainly a mystery to the large black jaguar. Her keen yellow cat's eyes watched every flicking movement of the young girl. It was hard to imagine that something so small was technically a predator, a carnivore that required the nutrition of meat. Given they couldn't take down large prey so relied on scavenging in between their quick small animal prey. Perhaps it was the extra hormones from the pregnancy running through her, the same that increased her patience with Tobias, which made Nadya feel oddly protective over the small creature. Nadya was determined to see the fox with her own kind, highly doubting Claire's words that she was there with her pack. It wasn't common to see one stray so far from their pack in a new city after all.
Nadya's seated position mirrored Claire's with her tail wrapped tightly around her haunches until she rose to lead her away from the outskirts. While Nadya didn't have the thicker coat like Claire her larger size did allow for her body to generate a bit more heat to keep warm but it didn't mean she was completely impenetrable by the cold. The lingering snow bit at her paws as they walked making Nadya even more positive towards her opinion that snow...sucked. Nadya's gaze slid back to Claire as they walked, eyeing the droplets of red that fell from her mouth leaving a spotted trail in their wake. "Well, if you came here with your pack then you should tell your Alpha to go see my brother. He needs to make his presence known so territory lines can be agreed on. If your Alpha is seen otherwise claiming territory....my brother won't be pleased." An unannounced Alpha staking claim in Sacrosanct could actually lead to a pack fight which Nadya could not deal with right now. Once the twins were good and born it would be different but right now it was a horrible decision.
As Nadya led Claire past the threshold of the forest onto one of the paths of the park she figured while they were finding the other fox she might as well get as much information from the girl. "What is your position in the pack little one?" It was an easy enough question with a light tone brushing against Claire's mind. Nadya's head and tail were held high as she walked, her whole body stanced quite naturally to show she held a high rank in her own pack. "Do you have very many in your pack? I haven't seen many foxes before and it would be an interesting sight to see your pack." Oh there were ways to get information with appearing nonchalant about it.
