South

The southern part of the city has a chic family-oriented sort of charm to it. Here, small locally owned shops run rampant, neighbors often know each other by name, and the monthly socials are an event not to be missed. In the South, children can often be seen safely playing in the park or on sidewalks and in the weekends, families often take to the beach to enjoy the warm waters surrounding the city.

Ascension Center of Equitation

The Ascension Center of Equitation is the epicenter of the Dark Hunter Cavalry Unit. Originally a high-class facility for show-jumping, Ascension now caters entirely to the Cavalry Unit. Here the Dark Hunters learn how to ride and fight upon the backs of horses - many of which are Were's themselves.

Hyde Park

Hyde Place takes up a large part of the Southern side of the city and includes a large playground, several fountains, and a small garden. The park is open from five in the morning till midnight though many shady characters may visit this place while it's technically "closed". The park has also been a venue for several concerts and hosts many holiday-related events. Under a full moon, witches are often seen here for the sacred ground beneath the iconic Weeping Beech.

Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium

The Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium (PDZA) is an award-winning combined zoo and aquarium located within the Southern Part of Sacrosanct. Situated on 92 acres in Sacrosanct's Hyde Park, the zoo and aquarium are home to over 9,000 specimens representing 367 animal species. Point Defiance is also widely known for its conversation efforts regarding the breed and release program of Red Wolves.

The Outskirts

Beyond the city limits and over the bridge lies the deep, dark, and almost impenetrable forest. Often seen as a way to guard this magical city against the world that surrounds it, many are entirely ignorant of the evil that may creep between those tree trunks. Many were-creatures use the forest for the transformations of their newest members and some even take to hunting here. It isn't particularly peculiar for people to go missing within this forest but once you get through, the rest of the world awaits.

He knows he's killing me for mercy

South

I remain frozen at the bank side, my breathing harsh, my eyes lingering now on the body of the woman Cole had killed. I kept running it through my head, trying to figure out how she could be some deathly creature to whom Cole had to rid the world, but I couldn't see it...I could see only a vulnerable being. Part of me still wanted to go to her, to get those fucking ties off her arms, to take her away from this horrible darkness, but I was retreating inside myself, hiding away into a place where I could shut it all out, and walk away.

The sudden movement of Cole causes me to turn, a weary look on my face. I say nothing as he bends down beside me. I want to reach out to him, to hold him close to me, but I am frozen still. I don't resist as he holds my hand, turning it over and staring at it as if he was trying to solve some deeper riddle. His words strike me hard, and I look up from my hand and into his eyes. Did he truly believe this? My mind whirrs with rebuttals and exasperated pleas of denial, though I fail to respond, but simply feel the cold steel of his pistol touch my skin. Every muscle in my body suddenly locks, I stare at the weapon with a horrified look. Why was he doing this? It made no sense. I wanted to throw it into the river, but instead I look at Cole in confusion, my brown eyes desperate for answers as he moves away from me, standing in front of the body.

His next words rekindle the tears that were falling, now in a heavy rush of remorse. My body trembled, and I felt light headed, the skies were beginning to lighten as the sun painted the skies in a soft ice blue...like Cole's eyes, those eyes that stared at me now, asking me to choose something unchoosable. "Cole, please. Please." I choke back tears and my eyes move from Cole, to the body, and back again to Cole. My fingers tighten around the pistol, and I let out a furious cry, not necessary loud, but full of burning agony. I then point the pistol at my own temple, my hands shaking violently. "You're asking me to either kill you, or a part of myself. Do you fucking know what you are asking me!?" Again I choke back a sob, the anger taking over.

A moment passes and all I can do is stare at Cole, my resolve shattering piece by piece. I slowly move the gun away from my own temple and point it towards Cole, my eyes wide. "I could shoot you in the leg, drag you out of here kicking and screaming if I have to." The tears have slowed now, replaced by new emotions, darker ones that elude pain, and instead numb it. Carefully, I push myself up again, standing, though my balance is questionable. I take a few steps back and with each step it's as if a layer of anger washes away. I have made my choice. I still have the pistol pointed at Cole, and in one swift movement I lean back and hurl the pistol with everything I have, over Cole's head and into the river. "Do what you have to do then." My voice is soft, distant...but there's a sort of peace there, because I finally know how this is going to end.
