It had rained for the better part of the day and late into the afternoon. By the time I'd gotten home, I had been thoroughly soaked through, along with the bags and parcels I carried with me. I don't know how I managed to keep hold of both my to-go coffees, but upon returning home they were cold. Not that that mattered much. I knew I could reheat them on hot-plate later on when the time was right.
Right then, I was ready for a hot shower and some warm, dry clothes. I slipped out of my jacket and peeled away the layers before my bedroom windows, letting the wet cloth fall to the floor in black rumples so that the circulated air of my apartment could touch my skin and offer some warmth. I sighed, feeling better, less restricted without the clothes to confine me. I went to the bathroom and turned on the faucet in the tub, then went about my apartment putting away my groceries and storing my art supplies while the water heated. I didn't mind walking around naked in my living room. In Alaska, my cabin had been so remote I could come and go in broad daylight without so much as a scrap of lace to cover with. I relished such freedom.
here in the city things were different. I was too modest a girl to be seen in such light even if it weren't considered indecent by proper modern etiquette. But here in my apartment, I was still free to be as free as I wished.
I showered and dressed, donning a soft black petaled night dress that could be worn as easily by day as it could at night in bed.
By then it was about eight o'clock in the evening and the sun was going down. I went to work in the kitchen, creating cooking magick with spices and herbs, baking the salmon filets I had bought earlier in the day with a honey-mapled glaze sauce and a side of red potatoes in lemon butter. I also whipped up an easy dish of green beans and bacon bits, one of my faves and while the meal was cooking I started up the hot plate and began re-warming the coffee.
When all was said and done, it was just a little past 10 in the evening. I stepped out onto the roof of my flat, walking over to the ledge closest to the roof of Syn, and set one plate and the Espresso I'd bought earlier on the neighboring ledge for Aiden to find. Something told me the were-panther would find his way up here at some point or another, and I settled upon my own roof ledge with my mocha beside me and my plate in my lap.
The folds of my dress fluttered between my legs in the breeze, and I nibbled on my salmon, savoring the flavor as eyes closed and I moaned at the exquisite taste that tantalized my taste buds.
"Mmmm..." I murmured with a blissful expression etching across my cameo. "Just like back home..."
And thus I passed the time, eating my meal slowly in hopes that perhaps my friend from across the rooftops would make an appearance.
