Some fear fire, but I've become it.
Mira had quite the sight when she walked beyond the threshold of Tetradore's room, relishing within the familiar warmth of it. Truly, one hardly knew what to expect at all. This morning, was no exception. Tobias was perched upon his companion, in a lover's straddle amongst the sea of pillows and blankets that made up of Tetradore's bed. That deceptively intimate view was certainly surprising and not one she would soon forget in the near future, the hopeless Mira only able to watch on in what seemed like shocked humour, even though when it hardly should have. Those two always had an extremely close relationship, that bond similar to brothers and yet perhaps even closer. Even still, the she-wolf could not help that laughter that bubbled from her all the same. Tetradore, barely moving from his precarious position upon his back, beneath his beta, seemed to explain appropriate attire. That notion entirely lost upon the gangly man and yet, he seemed to eventually give in regardless. She could not help but agree that winter clothes were an absolute must. It was nippy outside and even though that hot were blood would not be enough to fight off the chill outside. Even with that lava flowing in her own veins, she still sported that seemingly festive sweater. It would seem that Mira was willing to give in to that Christmas spirit. It was infectious. The sights the smells, the treats. Oh yes, the treats.
She meandered to where she had built that pillow fort that last night they spent hours together, she swore she could still taste baked goods she brought to coax the man inside of it. She smoothed out the sheet that threatened to sag, she would not allow for a caved-in roof. She was amused that the structure still stood, neither of them seemed willing to take it down and in secret truth, she had perhaps hoped it could linger. It was a great wonder that Tobias had yet to demolish the flimsy but whimsical structure. She studied it for only a moment longer before Tetradore's insistence seemed to garner her attention once more than its unique construction. That teasing reply easily drew forward, leaving a lingering playful grin upon her own lips in its wake. He looked every bit the reluctant sleepy cat, as he rose from his bed.
That insistence that he would only take ten minutes was uttered, as he framed that doorway. She could hardly help the way her wandering gaze that seemed to linger upon him, those loose-fitting pants still afforded her a view of the outline of his backside. She hardly knew she was doing it and truly, it was covert.... A mere covert, stolen glance... admiring the man she had come to know well enough to know what he looked like in many manners. How unaware she was that she had been spotted, by the watchful eye of Tobias who seemed conveniently quiet in that room. With Tetradore gone, the incentive to get Tobias dressed was worth a little incentive. His attention was already on her, surely he hadn't caught her brief moment of distraction. The best thing for this situation was to pretend like it didn't happen. Mira focused on her next task. Those candies in her purse appeared to come in handy.
Promptly, Mira pulled out one of many small tasty candies she possessed within her bag. Tossing it toward the leopard whom, as she suspected would not pass up on that opportunity. It was a good catch, his reflexes were far less sleepy than the alpha he pestered earlier. A near sly amused smile curled upon her lips before.... A look of abject horror as Tobias popped that caught treat in his mouth. Wrapper and all! Mira took a step forward, suspended with her hand outstretched as if to stop him but it was far too late. Oh, Tobi. He chewed with the same vigour as he would have as if it were unwrapped. If it altered its taste, he did not let it show. Mira wrinkled her nose, knowing there was so little use to intervene now lest she wanted to deal with lit dynamite fused territorial feline.
It would seem that two were able to strike a deal, Tetradore's voice permeating the closed bathroom door seemed to be the deciding factor in Tobias' complex mind before he took off in a huff. Mira could hardly help that sigh. Cats were the ficklest of creatures she was certain. Her mind could have spun wildly in a figurative tornado from those hot and cold vibes both companions seemed to give her. It could have been far worse. Alone at that moment, she drew toward the couch before finding a comfortable spot nestled against the armrest as she idly scrolled through her phone, responding to messages.
It wasn't long before Tobias returned with what appeared as his whole wardrobe with his arms completely full with a tower of sweaters. Mira slid her phone away sitting upward with wide eyes, wisely choosing not to comment. After all, he had certainly delivered. She hardly expected ALL of those options and all of them had sleeves as promised, on a mountainous pile on the floor. They were all in very good condition too, not a foul smell or stain marred them whatsoever.
Tetradore moved about the room, getting dressed as she sifted through the wide array of options before her, leaning forward. Fortunately, it did not take long to find something remotely Christmasy. She seemed almost proud of having found the perfect option. Surely it had been one Raven had purchased for him years passed. She lifted it upwards and toward the unpredictable feline for his viewing. "This one, with just the right amount of Christmas. Right Tetradore?" She knew it was Tetradore's opinion he valued above all others, surely his approval would have won his acceptance. The leopard quickly scrambled to put on that sweater, clearly more focused on receiving that candy. After all, a deal was a deal. He put his hand out just as Tetradore emerged a dress man as she placed that candy in Tobias' waiting hand. Perfect timing. "Deal is a deal, the candy is much better if you remove the wrapper though." She hinted, knowing very well she would most likely be ignored and that she was, no sooner than she even finished her words the candy was consumed much in the same way. Well... so much for that.
There was only a moment before a wide grin overtook the leopard's features.. there was only one way to describe that very look. Trouble. That sudden declaration followed soon after. Well... that was unexpected. For a moment Mira just froze at having been called out. "Tobi!" The golden-eyed she-wolf exclaimed incredulously onto deaf ears. That rascal of a cat! For a brief moment, she understood why dogs chased cats up trees, the urge was certainly there. He knew it too, or at least that mischievous leopard decided to drop a bomb and teleport. He didn't have the nerve to even face her after! Mira shook her head, drawing in a single breath, but nothing could quite tame that subtle creeping sensation of warm cheeked embarrassment. She shrugged, not quite having the words to say to that, nor did Tetradore. That awkwardness seemed almost palpable. How she was not one to be shy by any means, but that comment seemed to leave her near speechless.
"Yeah..... so... that.." She allowed her hand to dive into the depths of her purse before pulling out wrapped tasty chocolatey peppermint morsel, pinching it between to fingers out before him. "Candy??" Deflecting? Her? Never... She offered with a seemingly innocent grin before Tobias' voice echoed distantly throughout the entire, once peaceful ship. Mira was grateful for that distraction, fully willing to allow that fleeting awkwardness to subside. A sigh escaped Tetradore shaking his head in response before offering his hand toward her, a small smile playing upon his lips. Could the stoic alpha actually be slightly excited to go out into public?
"Let's go. It will be better together." She confirmed contently, all three of them, despite Tobias throwing her under the bus. How she had been looking forward to this very day. Wintersday she had self-named it. She hardly hesitated to place her own hand into his own, enjoying the feel of his touch despite how brief that act was. In a moment, those familiar shadows embraced them both. A fraction of a moment later they found themselves at the entrance of the ark. The cool air whispered against her skin.
Her jacket removing some of that bite. The cold hardly seemed to affect her as if that lava found a way to keep her warm. Reluctantly she released Tetradore's hand, the two not ones for public displays. Tetradore called out to Tobi. She found it endearing, the way they interacted with one another. In fact, it made her miss the memory of her sweet sister. She must have grown so much since the last she had seen her. Would she recognize her? Who knew the holidays would affect her in this way. Family.... Such a tumultuous topic for the she-wolf, content to call the pack her family. She wondered briefly if they were okay if her own sacrifice had been for nought. Fortunately, with her present company, there was hardly any time to consider this.
Tetradore easily led the trio through those streets to where the sound of Christmas songs could have led the way. The closer they got the louder the sound, along with bells and the... gleeful cries of people enjoying themselves flooded the air. Spirits were high and the mood entirely playful. She could see her own hot breath within the cool air as those decorations came into view. She found herself her own pace quickened simply because.... She was excited. Her golden eyes took in the sights before them, everything was decorated to the nines, tinsel and wreaths..... and holiday-themed mascots. Those seemed to make her a little wary, perhaps if she used both Tobi and Tet as a buffer she wouldn't have to get too close.
Artisans had tables set up to sell their wares, ornaments, decorations, hard cider and anything you could imagine. There was even a man dressed up as Santa Claus sitting upon a tall wintery decorated podium for children to scramble for a chance to sit upon his lap, uttering their wants. She had never seen anything like this. At least not on this scale. There was even a place to purchase Christmas trees! How she loved the smell of fresh pine.... And what was that? Freshly baked goods and hot apple cider lingered heavenly within the air. She could feel her mouth start to water... the realization that she hadn't eaten anything arose as a grumble within her tummy. Tetradore pleasantly interjected her reverie. She felt that flooding eager excitement. A group of children ran past narrowly colliding into the trio. "It smells like perfection... I am starving..." She inhaled once more, nearly closing her eyes to relish in those delicious scents.
It hardly took any time to pinpoint where those scents were coming from. "What I would give for a hot chocolate and something..... baked.." she uttered out loud. That holiday bug only amplified that sweet tooth, at least she told her self that. Surely Tobias and Tetradore were hardly immune to it either. She practically led the way to that table where the best of the scents had come from. That table was filled with baked goods stocked with any kind of warm Christmas beverage imaginable. All she could wonder was.... How much could her stomach handle? She wondered briefly. It would seem for one those golden, ravenous eyes far larger than her actual stomach. She turned to face them, a sparkle of anticipation within the depths of her gaze. "I really hope you guys are hungry."
