It took everything in him not to immediately jump to violence when that hand landed on his shoulder. His lone thought in that moment was that he needed to find Veronica before she disappeared and this stranger was an obstacle, something in his way that he needed to eliminate. Maybe it was any other scent that hit his nose, he would have turned with a fist ready to wrap around the unsuspecting stranger's throat. But when he smelled vampire, his predator instinct told him to wait. A vampire wouldn't be protecting a Dark Hunter, right? It was probably unrelated to his tracking. So instead, he tempered his Viking rage and slowly turned toward voice saying his name. His shoulders remained hunched as he turned his icy gaze on the man before him. This one had no business being in a club. The suit was custom tailored and freshly ironed. His posture spoke of authority and power. He was obviously someone important in the city. Once Erik's probing gaze met the man's face, he recognized him instantly. He'd seen it enough on newspaper headlines: Sacrosanct's mayor. A vampire mayor? He didn't see that coming. He couldn't help but wonder if the residents even knew. His brows creased in question, especially when the man asked if they could speak for a moment. Raising a lone brow, he followed the man's pointed finger to the table in the VIP section with his gaze, looking over the assistant standing by with mild curiosity as he tried to study the situation. He really didn't want to lose his trail but he also knew with her scent to memory, he could track her three days from now and still be able to find her. The sooner the better, of course, but he couldn't just be rude to the mayor and walk away, right? He thought through his options before finally he gave a single dip of his head and walked toward the table, taking a seat as gracefully as a panther while his eyes never left the man before him. He wanted to speak? Let him speak. |
