The jade hue of her irises lingered upon the man in front of her, simply watching with inquisitiveness as his brows furrowed in clear thought. Emerance had some vague notion of the thoughts that tumbled in his mind - what with his insistence that she was merely some made up figment of his imagination. She saw no reason to counter his belief, no need to insist upon how very real she was. After all, what did it matter? It hardly helped him find the home he was looking for. Surely though, it was that very conundrum he dwelled upon now - wasn't it? Though, she supposed she hardly knew what went on in the mind of the deluded. How very....fascinating it made him. Emerance hardly missed a beat, however, continuing the conversation without any reservations as she informed him of her name...and the far easier nickname she had earned over the years. Em. The syllable was repeated upon his lips in that heavy English accent and immediately a smile fluttered across his face. It was nothing short of infectious, Emerance incapable of returning it with the soft, friendly one of her own. Her head bobbed in confirmation of the word before those deep jade eyes were distracted by something else entirely - the crumpled bill he'd pulled from his pocket to pay for the coffee he'd been previously indulging in before her intrusion. How quickly she noted how very foreign it was! Emerance had never actually seen a pound before, not in real life.
Her fingers reached out, delicately plucking the paper from the tabletop. For a moment she eyed the bill, only to reach for her purse and pluck several American bills from it's depths. Her American cash was placed upon the table as the young girl offered a simple exchange - those bills certainly enough to cover his coffee. Thankfully, her offer was graciously accepted and without hesitation, Emerance offered him an all too warm beam as she slipped her little souvenir of the morning's events into her purse. Ah! But the young woman's determination hardly stopped there. After all, he had said he'd recently acquired an apartment and...to be frank...it looked to Emerance as if he certainly could use the help returning to it. It had hardly escaped her notice how...worse for wear he appeared. He seemed....more like someone who was homeless rather than someone who'd just stepped off a plane to start a new life in a foreign country. She certainly was not in a place to judge, however, considering Emerance was crashing at her brothers after abandoning a life in California. She reached for the apartment brochure, only to eye the address in consideration. Though she didn't exactly know the cross street...she knew of one of the roads, surely finding the complex was within her capabilities this morning.
Emerance slid from the booth, the apartment's marketing material still in hand as she glanced up at him, altogether oblivious of his fear of her departure. Her gaze turned back towards him as she gestured towards the door, clearly extending an invitation to join her. How quickly his features transformed! She watched as that small frown shifted into a full on grin as he chuckled, only to quickly scramble out of the booth. Emerance led the way towards the diner door, inattentive to the chef's and their baffled gazes or the relief from the waitress - the young woman entirely single minded when she so set out to be. In fact, it wasn't until Ben nearly tripped over himself in an effort to open the door for her that she paused, only to offer him another gentle simper. "Thank you." She offered, finding the gesture wholly endearing. She stepped out onto the city streets, her gaze briefly scanned their surroundings before she turned to her left, only to meander at an easy pace down the sidewalk, careful to ensure she fell in step with Ben. It was his inquiry that prompted a warm laughter from the girl's lips and quickly her head shook, her brown locks stirring with the gesture. "Uh....no, I wouldn't exactly call it that. But I think it'll be okay where you are. Just steer clear of the warehouse district and the waterfront and try not to go out at night, okay?" She insisted, repeating the very same thing her Dark Hunter brother had told her. "I think it's...this way...oh! Yes, see, this is 33rd so it should be down there..." Her voice trailed off as she glanced down the intersection, only to turn right and lead him across the street, entirely unperturbed of the people that slowly began to populate the sidewalks on their rush to their jobs.
