He was an only child. After he was born, his mother was unable to have another (nearly losing Kurt during the pregnancy) and since she had always wanted a daughter, she gave him the name she wanted to give if was a girl - Marie. His father however felt bad for his son, deciding to give him a suiting "boy" middle name too and Kurt Marie-Austin was born. Because of this, he feels extremely embarrassed and only either uses Austin if he must give a middle name, or resorting to initials. Only one person knows his full name and that is his partner Lennon.
During Middle School he met Lennon and almost immediately he felt a connection to him. A strong and fierce loyalty emerged and during the whirl of puberty and hormones, that friendship gave way to romantic feelings. When Len moved in with Kurt and his family during their High School years (after Len's parents kicked him out for telling them he was gay), those feelings only intensified and when Len made it clear he also shared the same feelings, the two started a relationship that has only grown as they have.
It was also during those teen years that Kurt discovered a love for music as well. Their band, The Patchworks, started in their garage. Their band is gaining success (and a record deal), and it was during this time in their mid-20s that their lives would forever change by a special "fan". At a party, Len was attacked by a mysterious woman. During the fight, he was bitten badly and in turn bit her back. She was a vampire, and Kurt stayed by Len's side as he transformed. It was confusing and scary, Kurt didn't understand it though he tried. Days turned to weeks and not wanting to ever be apart (finally realizing at least the seriousness of the situation), Kurt eventually asked Len to turn him as well, so they could be together forever.
Now that their career is starting to actually make money and go somewhere, they have moved here to start a new life together - which includes learning to be vampires.
