It had been a couple of hours since his long, drawn out and weary trip on the bus to Sacrosanct. Moving wasn't new for Travis, that much was for sure. Being a college student, he often found himself having to go back and forth from his parents home in Seattle, all the way to Stanford, where he studied hard, until he had his Bachelor's in Journalism.
After busting his ass for so long, with flying back and forth, he worked at the local paper in Seattle.
Travis was given the task of writing short stories to entertain readers who paid to have papers sent to their doors. And occasionally, he'd get those really good stories and go out, conduct interviews and just have a ball doing what he loved.
That was, until he started really delving into stuff that his family wasn't too happy with him for;
The Supernatural.
Yep, we're talking ghosts, zombies, anything that had to due with magic, or something that was considered bizarre, Travis was all about. So much, that he became a sensation at the paper with his stories.
People were lapping them up, and he'd often get letters for story ideas; What to write next for the next day issue.
Travis pursued every opportunity he got, despite all the criticism and hate he was getting from his family.
They didn't seem to understand that his new found love for the supernatural, wasn't something you could call a phase.
No, he lived and breathed it. Often checking out books from the library or going on forums; He'd even meet up with people who said they had knowledge or where even something supernatural themselves.
Nine times out of ten, they were frauds. But he still loved his job.
So what was Travis doing here in Sacrosanct you may wonder... Travis finally grew tired of the constant heat from loved ones. Thus, he had his heart set on a place called "Sacrosanct".
He managed to get a good deal on a townhouse in Hawthorne Village, and with nothing to lose, he jumped on the first bus he could, and thus, here he was.
It was dark out yes, but Travis was simply strolling on the beach, after learning his way around Sacrosanct on his own; Well, thanks to his trusty smartphone and GPS actually working.
On a lonesome bench he sat, with his bag slung to the side of the arm rest, not touching the sand.
But his feet were hunkered nicely into the cool sands, and that smell of the sea was glorious to him.
Travis was in his own world right now, but he didn't realize that on a nearby rock was something he never thought he'd see.
"Tell me that I'm just hallucinating? You've got to be Travis..."
He said to himself in a soft voice, not wanting to take any chances in making himself known.
I mean, wild, big, dangerous cats didn't just escape a zoo or wherever, and lay on a rock right?
Or was this a were he had read so much about?
He was excited, but Travis had no time to be amped up. There was too much at risk at the moment; That risk being the danger of his life being cut short, or him in a hospital.
"Easy Travis... Just relax. You'll be fine. This isn't a normal every day thing, but uh... Yeah. You'll be fine."
Travis said to himself again, as he would not stare in the direction of the long shadow on the rock.
Good thing was, he had a flashlight on his phone, but it would be bad for him since it was pretty much a beacon to say "Hey, I'm here. Kill me, maim me, whatever."
This, was certainly not what he expected on his first evening in Sacrosanct.
