She was up to her old antics again, haunting the central park with every fiber of her being. But she was a lot more cautious now, stealing out of its comfort when Jake and the boys came wandering by. It wasn?t difficult when they showed up, she could easily outrun them if she needed to, and it was just a lot lonelier with no one to talk to. She should be able to talk to Kelsa but the young woman was studying for school and Ash didn?t want to be a burden, so she spent more and more time away from the West Side house and more time back out on the streets. Ash was dressed as per usual in a pair of cargo shorts that had seen better days to a t-shirt that looked like it actually fit her frame this time. She scuffed her sneakers against the pavement, careful to keep her lengthening hair tucked behind her ear to show off the bruise that curled from her chin to her cheekbone. She had found out that it brought the women in closer then they?d ever come before, maybe this whole looking the part of a girl could work to her advantage after all. Come on now? she thought, as an older lady and her husband ventured closer. She had to be careful with the older couples, they tended to get real close and decide she liked to be fussed over. She hated fussing. She went off on a tangent in Gaelic when the husband pulled his wife away with a shake of his head and she cursed. She turned away from the couple, sure that her face gave away her annoyance. It was when she was facing in towards the towering trees that she heard his voice in her head. That was a new one, wasn?t it? Guess I need another lesson or two then. She thought back to him, not even sure if he could still hear her. Leaving her fruitful case she swung back around to face the pathways again, her hair coming undone from her ear and swinging to cover her blue eyes. He wouldn?t be too far away she knew that much so she slipped in amongst the people, clearly confused on why there were so many on such a chilly day. It didn?t take her long to find him; he was sprawled downstream from the throng on a bench that she frequented quite often. ?Hi? she calls out, her voice lilting out like it normally did around him. ?Why?re you out?this way?? It wasn?t somewhere where she had seen him since their fateful meeting all those months ago. | ||
