East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

i used to rule the world

seas would rise when i gave the word

There was something altogether intimate about the connection that existed between a creator and their child. It was there always, somewhere in the back of his mind, tethering them together as if time and space were but irrelevant measures that separated him from the Russian woman that he'd taken under his wing. Her death had been tragic and in a way, it was that which had so coaxed him to her to provide her with a second chance at what life had to offer her. He had trained her diligently, as opposed to it as she might have first been and then, when he deemed her fit to survive on her own, Alexander had released her from his hold with little thought on when he might see her again. After all, Anastasia had her own life to live and so, as years turned to decades, Alexander too continued his rather benign existence - landing the Macedonian King in perhaps the most peculiar of cities with the most peculiar of businesses, considering the man's titles. Servicing others certainly didn't fit within his usual repertoire and yet, the bet with an old friend that had started this whole charade had somehow caused the dark hunter to linger.

There were some aspects of running his own coffee empire that were hardly much different than ransacking a city, to a degree. The locals had to be satisfied, his staff required compensation and the more he succeeded, the more flocked to the business. It was satisfying, in a way, perhaps the best passing of his time that he'd had in quite a bit when there was naught a war that interested him. After all, he was still, at heart, a conqueror. Nevertheless, the man had left his newfound barista at the front counter, well aware that the next few hours would nearly silent as his patrons trickled in and out. It was perhaps the only time he would get until late that night to bother himself with the finances of his little establishment - primarily the payment of his vendors and the were-horse herself whom he'd only recently too taken under his wing in some fashion or another. Alexander was oblivious of the darkly hued car that pulled to a slow stop in front of the cafe, nor did he hear the click of heels that foretold the grand duchess herself. In fact, it wasn't even until Anastasia made her way around the bar that the familiar thread that bound the pair plucked just enough to draw his eyebrows together and his gaze upwards.

His sea colored irises immediately shifted to the door of his own office, the Macedonian King hardly surprised by the slender figure that stepped through the threshold with beaming features. A slow simper warmed its way upon the man's usually stoic face as he stood to greet her. "Anya." Alexander commented as he closed the distance between her, embracing the girl in an equally as rare display of affection. "I'm surprised to see you." The Dark Hunter admitted, stepping away from her ever so slightly after a moment to instead settle on the edge of his desk. "What brings you here?" It should not have been odd, he supposed that they should run into each other again but she was, in all the time he'd been alive, the only Hunter he'd seen fit to create. His own experiences with their relationship had always been a touch spotty though not for a lack of trying. At the end of the day, he was still terrible at keeping in contact with her. Apparently a hundred years or so was not yet long enough for the man to get used to anyone having any genuine interest in his whereabouts.
