East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I've forgotten how it felt before...

It had taken an extreme amount of haggling to get a reasonable rent price for the small building but Sorcha had done it. Part of that was because of more recent events she had learned to grow a firmer backbone, her easy going attitude having hardened somewhat. The murder of ones parents tended to draw out such feelings. She wanted desperately to find the people or person who had committed the crime but had yet to find any magical help in that regard. All she was good at was healing and some earth magic and that was useless. A bit too late. Healing didn't help the dead.

For a moment when she had arrived in Scotland she had been tempted. Tempted to turn to the arts of necromancy. She didn't know if it was true but the urge had tingled in her fingers and the earth had responded, dead vegetation livening, growing, stretching. By the time she had come to her senses she had created a whole forest around her. Her parent's coven had oohed and awed and consoled her, telling her that emotional stress could unleash powers otherwise mediocre or hidden, and they had watched her the entire time with hawk eyes. Sorcha had a suspicious feeling it wasn't because they were truly concerned for her aching heart. More for the cultivation of her talents for their uses.

So she had done what needed to be done and flew back to Sacrosanct after weeks and weeks stuck in her homeland. It felt barren now without them there. She felt barren. So she had turned her attention, for the moment, to continuing her sales and starting her business for real this time. They had left her a tidy little sum of money and she used it to get this place, forgoing even a place to live. Instead she had set up a pallet in the backroom and groaned each morning at the ache in her back.

But business had begun to pick up once more as her old customers heard tale of her return to Sacrosanct, this time in a shop instead of hawking on the side of the street. They didn't know that her poultices and creams were of the magical variety, only that they WORKED. An older couple shuffled out the door moments before a vibrant young girl walked in. Sorcha's dark eyes followed her, feeling a tired pinch around the corners, and she steps away from the grungy old cash register she had managed to procure.

"Welcome. Is there anything I can help you find? Do you have any aches or pains that other medicines don't seem to help?" Her words are warm, despite her constant sorrow and current tiredness, and she pauses a foot from the girl, a curious frown pulling on her lips as she senses.. magic?
