East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I'm more alive than I've ever been

This night is a rarity by its very definition, a still point of focus in the otherwise forever-unfolding nightly plot of Isolt's life. She is not Red on the Water's proprietor tonight, nor must she fulfill the daunting role of Elysium's Supreme lest she pilfer from the evening's happenings a reason to act as such. This she does not intend; in fact, all that Isolt truly has planned for the night is a lighthearted and undoubtedly entertaining evening at home with Chizue the likes of which neither woman has had the pleasure of experiencing in quite a long while. The year that now rests at their backs had been notably the most difficult in recent memory for the two young women, both of them valiantly fighting separate, though remarkably parallel, battles alongside one another. But, at least for now, their toils had come to rest in the face of the new year's promising glow.

The redheaded woman had only stopped by Red on the Water with the intention of seeing to a single item that remained on her agenda but had, as she always tended to do, been snagged by more than one patron adament to congratulate the young woman on her recent engagement or simply to regale her with the tales of their respective holidays. It is only by following the path of more than one not-so-idly wandering eye that Isolt's own come to rest upon the flannel-clad woman stationed at the wooden bartop. It is a peculiarity that this girl should capture their attentions so outrightly for the pub continually hosted both new-comers and tried-and-true regulars on any given night of the week. Thankfully for the youthful woman, the whims of the crowd lead their glances elsewhere in a matter of moments, though Isolt moves to excuse herself from the couple currently vying for her attention to slide easily behind the bar.

Nostalgia runs its tepid fingers over her stilled heart as Isolt draws near to the downtrodden human at her bar. It is not simply the axiomatic truth that she is human, the thrum of a dozen beating hearts at the bar alone evident to the undead matron, but that Isolt is reminded of someone when looking upon her. Though this stranger has yet to do as much as speak a word, her somber airs and aura remind her of... someone. An absurd notion, she is sure, one wrought of the rememberance of the season and one she is quite adament to be rid of as she passes the young girl a tumbler of amber liquid. "It looks like a Johnny Walker night, don't you agree?" She offers this and a kindly, genuine simper in the hopes that, for this moment at least, it is what is needed.
