East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I'm more alive than I've ever been

The quizzical look he imparts upon her worn and weary form hardly registers within the tumult that is Isolt's mind for her own disbelief of his appearance has wholly and completely monopolized the young woman's thoughts. All that seems of any consequence in this moment is that she may see him, touch him, lay her hands to the warmth of his skin and feel the fruitful pulse of his heart thrumming away loud and strong within the confines of his chest as if to whisper affirmation of his return to her own stilled heart. Of all of the things that death had taken from her, all of the people and possibilities that it had wrenched from her painfully-clenched fists over the past few years, it was no small recompense that it should give this one thing, this one person back to her. And it is for this reason that she lays her head against the broad muscles of his chest, content to simply rest in his arms for as long as he might allow her to do so.

It is her joy and her sorrow, the accumlation of so very many emotions wrought by his demise and, now, his seemingly-impossible return that sees a single crimson tear trace its smooth, telling print down the supple porcelain slope of her cheek as she listens astutely to the retelling of his most harrowing tale. All that the young woman finds herself capable of offering for a time is the quite unnecessary shaking of her fire-crowned head as if affirmation of his defeat was required on her behalf. Isolt knows what he must have felt in the moments that came as herald to his untimely end; she knows well the catastrophic agony that cripples those who know that their end is nigh, she has felt the chilling breath of Death himself billowing down her neck. She had felt it at her own end and she would, by some cruel twist of fate, feel it forevermore in the chilled pallor of her own flesh. How she would have fought to keep Tetradore from having to endure this untimely transgression, what she would have offered to take it from him.

She stirs only in the wake of the inquiry he places to her, tear-stained eyes cast towards those of her oldest, most cherished companion. "No," she offers simply, the effort inherent in corraling her thoughts so that she may articulate them proving of a far grander scale than she would have liked to admit. "I went there while I was looking for you, but everything was so... quiet. Everything was so still." A furrow, deep and forlorn, twists and mars features that are already admittedly threadbare with an exhaustion so phantom that not even immortality could absolve. The vampire queen shifts then, straightening herself to gaze upon the fallen Were king with a look that is equal parts pleading and apologetic. "Tobias... and Raven, I never even went to see them. I was so intent on looking... I didn't..." A breathless sigh punctuates the lament of her supposed negligence before her eyes once more snap to his. "They're going to be so happy to see that you're back. Tet, we have to get you to the them... or I have to bring them here. They have to know..."
