East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

The woman's softly spoken request to not go back into that odd little store was met with a ready nod. I saw no need to go anywhere near it let alone in it again. It wasn't exactly the sort of store I was entirely used to shopping in and honestly I'm not sure how to explain the cards anyway. I mean the skeleton motifs were a little...morbid for my liking but I suppose I didn't really have to look at them. Maybe there was some way to get them redone with something less, well, creepy. Maybe a nice pattern. It was almost endearing, really, the way the Chizue remained so close behind me until she was very near walking in my shadow, as if she truly believed I might be able to save her if the store clerk turned out to be some sort of witch or demon or something. I honestly don't know. Whatever it is that lets hunters identify supernatural's doesn't seem to work for me. I wouldn't know if the woman was human or otherwise. Chizue probably had a better idea then I did and given my inability to control my new found cards I doubted my ability to protect us. Maybe my Hunter status would be enough alone. It must have been in the end. The woman let us leave without casting some sort of spell over us. At least I don't think she did, I managed to eye her slightly all the same before placing that skull on the nearest dumpster. I'm not made for carrying things. It was heavier then it looked, Chizue so applauding my skill in removing that card from it as I grinned easily back towards her, tucking the cards back into my pocket and away from the immediate reach of my affinity. The girl assuring me they suited me.

"Thanks, I think. I am not entirely assured they are my style exactly but if I'm only going to throw them at things so it hardly matters about the decoration."

I shrugged softly once more before looking back towards that....skull. If the cards weren't my style then that was hardly going to be. I'm not even sure it has resale value. Maybe I could use it a coat rack and yet really the thought of it on my wall was enough to see my features drop in a look of disdain. My words were entirely designed as a tease alone, no part of me anticipating she might actually want the atrocity, especially considering it now hard a card-shaped slice within it. The blue gold of my gaze frowned, one eye arching upward in disbelief at her notion it would look wonderful on her book shelf. Really? It would look wonderful in the bin too. Chizue assuring me she could get home alone a moment later, her enjoyment of my company seeing a grin touch my lips all the same.

"As long as you're sure. I hope your bookshelf is large enough to hold this though."

I turned then, grasping the skull by the horns before handing it to her, holding it a moment longer, just to make sure she had it before letting it go. Hmm. Vampires must be stronger then she looked, the girl holding it almost effortlessly. Maybe this was why Kat seemed to have so much problems fighting them. I wasn't convinced Chizue actually wanted the damn thing and yet why would she say it unless she did? It wasn't exactly a collector's item.

"I'll see you later, Chizue. Thank you for tonight too. I'll see you soon."

I think I made a friend. Well, presuming she made it home and managed not to impale herself on that thing. I hope not. I looked forward to seeing her again.
