The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I was not prone to genuine emotional outbursts. Usually they were well planned, well executed, and with a direct target. Not to say I only slammed doors when I wanted something, but I had a very controlled will, and when things like this catch me off, I need time to process. Seeing Sylas' break into tears in front of me, made my dead heart lurch. Surprisingly the scent of blood all over hadn't even made my head spin, despite my feeling like I hadn't had anything in forever, which only added to my feeling of hollowness. These little thoughts kept wandering through my mind as I sat pressed against the wall under the counter, my eyes leaving the corpse to stare at Sylas across from me, the scissors still in his hand. I wanted to run at him, rip those scissors out of his fucking hands and just leave...I mean, we could just go hide in a forest or something, we're supernatural beings after all? But..our lives..
Sylas' words were like background music as I slid out and finally stood up, feeling a wave of dizziness only momentarily, but it was shifting into a new wave, this time of anger. I watched him as he stood up, his body was completely covered in blood, and I pictured briefly the image of him tearing her apart with those scissors, the thought was savage, even if she'd stabbed him with the glass...how had he let it get so out of control? As he claimed he could fix this bullshit, I turn to him with a voice of anger and confusion, "FIX, I DON'T SEE HOW WE'RE FIXING THIS?" I groaned and watched him run to the drawer and start tossing shit all over. He passed me once as he was smashing plates, and I reached towards him somewhat hesitantly, but he was focused on his plan, and so instead I stepped back and looked around the room, trying frantically to think of anything else that might be a problem. Thinking of ther neck wound, I looked back to Sylas to ask him what the fuck his plan was for that shit, but he had stopped suddenly and given into sobbing, he looked defeated and I felt my anger dissipate.
she wouldn't stop screaming..He kept repeating that, and inwardly I wondered if that was it? Had she screamed and so he lost it and killed her? I wanted to believe there had been more, that he'd HAD to do it, but for now I shook my head in a sort of dismissive way, I wanted to minimize this all, bag it up and sweep it out. "Like you said, she attacked you..they'll see that. We just have to make sure we don't miss anything." I found my conviction as I spoke to him, I wasn't going to let this destroy us. "We'll get through this Sylas." My voice was calm as I started to walk towards him, his own face seemed to be more focused suddenly and I sighed, hoping he'd calmed down. "She did. She was fucking crazy and tried to kill you, so we had to defend ourselves." It was a good plan, we'd be ok..we'd get through this.
I felt a chill run through me as I watched him turn the scissors inward suddenly, my body reacted before my thoughts could catch up, my hands grasping towards him, but too slow. "NO!" My voice pitched as I threw myself onto my knees next to him, my hands trembling, I reached for the scissors but stopped midway and retracted my hand again. He might bleed out if you do that...stupid.. I inhaled roughly and looked down at Sylas, tears had filled my eyes now, something even he hadn't seen me do often. I tried to say something but a sob came out instead and I buried my face into my hands and gave out one loud, heaving sob. A few seconds passed before I slammed my hands back onto the ground and glared at Sylas through tear filled eyes. "YOU STUPID IDIOT! I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!"I continued to glare at him. "How do I explain how she got stabbed? Did you stab her after she stabbed you? SYLAS I DON'T WATCH THESE SHOWS, FUCK." My words were rushed as tried to not start sobbing again. "M..Maybe I need to pull it out, put it in her hands? Then...get help? Or...I came in and stopped her? Then I...maybe I stabbed her?" My mind was running circles as I inched closer towards Sylas and grabbed onto his arm, holding him like he might suddenly disappear into nothingness.
