East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Well so far it hasn't been so bad in this town. Sacrosanct may not be as big as Maybrooke or as diverse, but it's certainly getting there. The hunters were quick to figure out that I'm here and I've spent most of my nights either fighting or avoiding places I know they frequent. At least my days are peaceful. Most hunters are still so shocked at the idea of a vampire who can walk in daylight that they leave me alone. I guess they think I have special abilities like breathing fire or something. I don't know, but I like my peace. I spend most of the days down by the docks or walking through the park. It is quite lovely and the flowers are seemingly always in bloom. I know at least one witch must tend to them.

I'm hoping the hunters I let survive will go back to their group and tell everyone that I'm here. Then maybe he'll come out, the one I've been searching for. I will have my revenge and I won't stop until he's dead. I know he's around this town somewhere, I just know it. I can practically taste his blood on my tongue. Yesterday I came across another familiar scent but I brushed it off. There's no way Stede would be here. He likes his bow and arrows and climbing trees and nature and shit. There's nothing a city could harbor to bring him here. I haven't seen the guy since he was damn near a kid. I remember his first lessons with the bow. The kid was a natural. He took to it like a jockey to a saddle. It's like he was meant to do this. I also remember the first time he shifted and how unlike some kids, he took it all in stride. Most kids go into histerics after their first shift but he shrugged it off as if it couldn't be any other way. He was always an old soul, always more mature in mind than in body. I always told him he would die by the time he was twenty with a mind like that.

As if in memory of him, I walk into the woods just off the edge of town. It's quite peaceful out here. The birds are singing and the squirrels scrurry from tree to tree. Nature is beautiful even at its worst. I pick a tree and sit at its base, closing my eyes for a minute as I let my mind wander. Moments like this are refreshing in a world filled with time sensitive errands and the noise of the city. I used to have a lot more moments like this back when I was first turned. Back when Turner taught me how to use my new senses to see the world in a whole new way. I smile, thinking of my maker.
