East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

It was another night for hunting. She had held to her promise to Kohl and hadn't gone out hunting that night. By the next morning, she was mostly healed and after another night or so, she was completely healed, the damage from the WereDoberman almost completely forgotten as she took to the streets once more, on the hunt yet again for the elusive Were. So far, there hadn't been any more killings but her mission was still clear. The Council wanted the WereDoberman off of the streets anyway she could get her so Kat was going to try this the easy way. She had managed to get the girl to talk last time and though it may not have seemed like she got very far, she saw progress in the way the girl had finally opened up to her about why she did it. She was angry and that was understandable. She wanted vengeance for what had happened to her. Now all Kat had to do was show her that there were other ways to get that.

She wasn't completely heartless. She wasn't as black and white as some of the other hunters who just did the bidding of the Council and killed everything they were set upon. If there was reason for death then she wouldn't hesitate but in this, she saw only a victim, not a heartless animal killing for no reason. Yes, innocents had died and that blood would be on her hands if the girl didn't cooperate but Kat was going to risk it because she believed in justice for all species, not just humans and her own. She walked with confidence under the street lights, following the trail she had picked up from the other night. The girl had been bleeding when they parted ways so at first she was following blood but when she lost the trail, it was just a hunch on which way to turn next. The girl would have healed by now too since she was a Were so she was expecting to find her in her prime and ready for another fight. Kat had come prepared just in case but for now, she held no weapons in her hands. She knew she could call them to her aide at any time.

When she heard the snarling, she at first thought it just a couple dogs getting into it or something but she poked her head around the corner of the building anyway just to check. Her eyes popped open like saucers as she tried to take in the scene before her. It was a massacre. There was blood everywhere and bodies littered the alley. It was a dead end so besides her and other shady characters, nothing else would have come down here to see this until morning at least. the walls, the ground, the dumpsters...everything was painted red. And in the middle of it all, the Were she had been hunting vigilantly lie seemingly dead at the feet of a person draped in shadow. She couldn't make them out, couldn't pull out a single feature from this angle but it didn't look good. It was as if the shadows themselves dripped with the blood of the innocent and this being was staring right at her, as if beckoning her to come closer. Kat had never felt fear on her hunts but there was something quite close to it when she looked at this. Still, she couldn't hesitate. It was in her blood. It was her duty. She needed to put this to rest.

And so she slowly pulled herself away from the wall that had been hiding her and moved around to a better position. She hoped to see just what she was up against when she moved into the light of the nearest back door, letting the motion senser light highlight the blades in her hands. She was poised and ready, the adrenaline already coursing through her veins like magic as she sized up her opponent, waiting to see who would make the first move.
