East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

His hand is warm in hers, his grip firm as he shakes her extended hand, a small smile tugging at the corner of her mouth. He seemed pleasant and she was surprised to see how easy it was to carry a conversation with him. Still, she comments about the rain, her brows raising in amusement at his own comment. "I very much doubt it, I don't think you could get anyone to give up a table short of being paid to or getting kicked out," she smiles again, her chocolate eyes glancing around the fully packed café. She was lucky enough to have even snagged a table, though she had forgotten her important school material.

There would be no studying until the rain let up. She wouldn't be against walking home in the rain, but it looked far too cold and the girl didn't have an umbrella. Sighing through her nose as she watches the rain continue to fall, she leans away from the window as a gust of wind slams into the window, the rain drops pinging roughly off the glass. Cringing away, she makes a face at the wetness. She most definitely would not be walking home anytime soon.

Trying to distract herself enough from the coldness outside, she feels a bit bad dragging her table companion into conversation, yet she had nothing to do. Nothing to read, no computer, nothing. She felt it would be far more awkward sitting there in silence than attempting to start a conversation. Asking him what he was reading casually, she has to fight the blush that threatens to rise to her face. For a moment, Miya is concerned she upset him as he folds the paper back together. Attempting not to grimace, she's about to apologize before he's tapping the front of the paper, drawing her attention.

Eyes a bit wide, she looks at the headline and glances back at Griffin as he starts to read about it. Brows shooting up in surprise, her hands still on her mug as she searches the paper for more information. Wincing a bit, she gives Griffin an apologetic look, "I'm new to town too, I've only been here a few weeks now. If I'm being honest, I don't really keep up on the local news, but I think I will from now on. That's a bit... unsettling," she mutters, lifting her own mug to her lips to take another drink.

"I mean, for the short time I've been here it doesn't seem that bad. I moved here to finish my schooling and I haven't been affected by anything. There's a lot of strange people here but I like it overall," she says, her hands beginning to twist on her cup again. "My roommate being one of those weird people," she says a bit darkly, thinking back on her most recent argument with Arlo. He was the most bizarre individually she had ever met! "There are plenty of weird things in this city though. There was an animal attack a few nights ago, a guy got rushed to the emergency room because his flesh was torn to ribbons," she says, recalling the memory, a bit of a shudder running down her spine, "I mean, how is there an animal in the city big enough to do that sort of damage?"
