East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

i used to rule the world

seas would rise when i gave the word

The Dark Hunter was altogether silent as he observed with acute perception that interaction between father and son. It was hardly difficult to tell that the boy was still oblivious of his relationship with both men in that room. Those blue-green eyes shifted towards his age old companion at that near dismissive wave and yet, his own facial features remained trained in that apathetic glimpse that they so often took on. That shift within Matteo's features was near indiscernible and yet, after a near eternity at Matteo's side, he'd come to know far more of the man then he suspected most ever would. He watched as his Godson made his way down those stairs, a word hardly leaving his lips until the sound of that bell tied to the door announced the Italian's departure. One eyebrow slowly rose as Matteo settled in that plush armchair across from him. Any words he might have offered the man were quickly cut short as Matteo admitted on his own accord that the protectiveness within him certainly existed with a far greater intensity than he had ever expected. A soft chuckle left his lips at that sentiment and yet, the Hunter still found himself inclined to make some effort to reassure his oldest companion in a fashion he so rarely did with most.

His companion's hesitant acceptance only prompted the age old Hunter to roll his eyes, the man entirely assured that his word had hardly been enough to reassure Matteo in the slightest. In fact, he was rather certain the man had already seen that immediate future with his own eyes in order to guarantee the boy made it home tonight both alive and, that the walk itself was relatively unexciting. It was, however, that idle comment of his offer to ensure Dorian returned home with another of those beverages for his vampire Consort that near prompted a scowl upon the Hunter's features. That effort to 'accept' the vampire as apart of that small family unit was surely more of a farce then any true measure of acceptance. His extensive experience with their kind over the past few thousand years of his life made him entirely distrustful of them. He'd seen the way they reacted at even the smell of blood, just as he too had seen how quickly they'd turn even upon those they claimed to love for that very substance. It was a near drug to them. However, that wasn't to say Alexander hadn't met those of that species that were an exception to the rule. He had, but they were few and far between.

It was, however, that experience with their kind that prompted the man to voice his concern over this union, the Hunter hardly pleased with that near grin that settled upon his age old friend's features. He detested, truly, that notion of fate. The man was wholly devoted to the idea that there were some things that could rise above what was set in stone, hell, that he could rise above whatever path Matteo and those greater forces designed for him. A soft huff left his lips at that declaration that the intertwining of his Godson's life with that vampire was beyond even their abilities to thwart it. "He may have once been a good man but do not think that curse cannot taint him." He objected, even if he knew well it was futile. Alexander knew how utterly impossible Matteo could be when he was certain of something, not that he was often wrong but - that hardly needed to be said. Whomever that Englishman had been in life, Alexander refused to believe he was wholly the same in death. He'd seen far too much of those newly changed to simply believe that.

That soft sigh drew his sea-colored gaze towards the fellow as the Hunter considered that very ability he had been alerted to only recently. He could hardly help that desire to see such a gift in action, if only to better understand those capabilities and how they might affect his own Godson. Still, he was hardly prepared for his oldest companion to make some effort to argue the vampire's merit. A scowl crossed his features at that very lesson he'd taught his companion all those years ago being turned on him instead, particularly when it came to that very species that the hunter council largely perceived as the greatest danger to humanity and supernatural alike. His lips were pressed together in a frown and yet, Alexander could hardly argue that point. That certainty within Matteo's voice that he was sure Dorian's consort loved him prompted a soft sigh upon his lips and yet, if it were not for his fears that Matteo's son might be found dead and drained of every ounce of blood within his veins, he very likely would have approved of that relationship with gusto. Even so, he could hardly help the way he rolled his eyes ever so slightly at that notion of instilling within the creature a health dose of apprehension in the vampire. "I can't imagine getting him to fear us is all that difficult." He uttered, they had both had plenty of experience in being imposing, particularly when it came to the significant others of their own children.

It was that mention of that wedding that drew his attention quite sharply, his eyebrows furrowed ever so slightly. "Will that be soon?" He inquired, knowing well that Matteo surely already knew not only when that wedding would happen but also likely the proposal and everything associated with it. His fingers drummed lightly upon the edge of that arm chair, considering that idea that he would be expected to support that marriage. "Fine...but if he hurts Dorian, I will hunt him down." Truthfully, he was entirely certain such a threat needed to be said, after all, surely Matteo would have been at his side to hunt down that very creature if he should step out of line in the slightest of ways. His concerns of that union, however, were brushed aside by that inquiry of his own thoughts of Dorian himself.

He could hardly deny the boy was certainly ecstatic about life, the way in which he had regarded such a simple gift with such excitement had certainly told the man well enough of the fae's demeanor. He shook his head ever so slightly, announcing in the moments after that it was Dorian's innocence that concerned him the most - particularly when the world was far crueler than it had once been. It would be so easy for the Italian Monarch to be taken advantage of. It was a realization that apparently had dawned upon Matteo as well. Still, he could hardly deny that Dorian was much like those first few years in which Alexander had emerged into Matteo's own life. That soft chuckle left his lips as he shook his head ever so slightly. "Thank God he has already crossed that road." The last thing either of them surely wished to see was for Dorian to once again spiral into that despondency. After all, he remembered well how Matteo had spoken of the state of the King during those years he'd spent in solitude. It was that question of Anastasia, however, that brought that glimpse of discontent back to his features. "She's in town" He stated, pausing only to shake his head ever so slightly, "She chasing some child vampire thing named Anna-Marie for the key to her music box, though she refuses to tell me of it, naturally. As if I wouldn't find out but, children do like to try to be so bloody independent." He had, naturally, done his due diligence the moment his protege had stepped into that cafe. Though she was hardly his own flesh and blood, Alexander was as protective of her as he had been his own children - when they were alive.
