East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

TRYING NOT TO WASTE MY TIME

Benjamin had not always been this driven to succeed. If one of his brothers or sisters (aside from Caroline) saw him now, they probably would not even believe it was him. From the age of about thirteen to about the age of sixteen, Benjamin had been a real punk, a trouble maker, the poster child for any young man that was in his current situation. It was only those last two years, his last two years of high school, when he had moved in with Caroline who was senior by a few years that he managed to get straightened out. But during those previous three years, those late junior high times and those early high school days, Benjamin had been almost entirely intolerable, most had labeled him as a lost cause, his parents, his teachers, even his guidance counselors. So, the dark haired rebel had decided to live up to their expectations and embraced himself as a lost cause. It was around when he turned sixteen and he got out of his current home life and moved back to his hometown where he had been born and he moved in with his older sister that he was really able to straighten out and connect with his old childhood friends. Those two years saved his life because Benjamin had been headed in the wrong direction, but Caroline pulled him out. Then Logan and Blake, his two best friends, they kept him from falling away again. He continued to play soccer, and that was when the scouts noticed him, and offered him a scholarship for not only being able to kick a ball pretty well, but also for his grades. For even despite his terrible behavior, Benji still had managed to get above average grades, not because he tried, but school simply came easily to him, and he especially pushed himself his junior and senior year of school. So that was how Benjamin came to be here, going to school, living on his own, playing soccer, and sitting in this very coffee shop, on this very day.

Lips touch the cup once again as he lifts it from the spot on its table. He had been so focused that Benjamin doesn't realize his coffee had begun to get cold. Pulling out his chair, the young man rises from his seat, hesitant for a moment to leave his laptop sitting on the table unattended, but then figuring most likely no one would be up for jacking a mac in a crowded coffee shop. Shoving his phone in his back pocket, Benjamin approaches the counter and asks for a refill, more so it simply keep his current cup warm. Once again, he adds neither sugar nor cream. Benjamin had never really been a fan of sweet tasting things, except perhaps the occasional cookie or two, but only if it was handmade. Instead, he much prefers his coffee a little on the bitter side. Perhaps, maybe it had something to do with his personality. Now, Benji wasn't bitter, but he certainly wasn't walking on rainbows and sparkling in the sunshine either. He was like black coffee, simple straight forward, but also strong and bold.

Yeah, Benjamin was black coffee.
And perhaps Beylani, was just like that caramel macchiato that was she was ordering.

He returns to his seat and takes a sip but instantly retracts, muttering hot under his breath. Returning his coffee to its original position, he goes back to his studies. Benjamin ruffles his dark locks, pressing his hair down, though of course it does no good, never has, even throughout all of his childhood, so why he still continues to try make his hair neater (even if it is absent-minded and more habit than anything) is certainly beyond me. HIs amber eyes fall back to his screen, gathering as much information as he possibly could. Headphones go back into his ears, switching the songs until he finds one to his current liking, which seems to change every day depending on his mood.

Eyes once more and he catches just a mere glimpse of blonde hair in his vision before he returns to his computer screen. But then, something makes his eyes roll lightly upwards, in the direction that the blonde hair had grazed across his amber gaze, but he finds a sea of brunettes and platinum blonde, not the soft yellow he had spotted before. He blinks once..twice...a third time before gaze falls downwards again. But this time, his eyes fall further down than just his computer screen. Eyes go to his backpack and he leans down to rummage through it, hand touching against a leather journal, he contemplates pulling it out, but a sudden feeling of warmth comes over him, and a strange feeling of someone watching him. Hands release the journal and he pops back up to his upright state. Amber eyes roam the coffee shop, a bit carelessly since he doesn't spot the hair the color of a yellow field. He shrugs the feeling off, chalking it up to him simply being a little studied out and not thinking clearly. Closing his laptop, he thinks perhaps he may head to class a bit early, maybe take one of his professors up on their office hours. Benjamin clocks the home button on his phone, glancing at the group text between him, Blake, and Logan, his childhood friends, and of course there are a few messages from Caroline, but Benjamin decides he would open and read through them on the bus.

As he bends his weight forward to stand up and pack his bag, not able to hear the hello that was brightly uttered to him, he bumps into the very girl with blonde locks cascading down in elegant curls. He moves sideways and back into his seat as he pulls his headphones from his ears and brings those amber eyes upwards to meet hers of baby blue. He pauses a moment, simply looking at her before he blinks those eyes made from liquid honey. "Sorry about that," he says with his baritone voice, not too high, but not too deep either. "I didn't see you," he says and stands up, remembering the manners that Caroline had attempted to instill in him. His face remains serious and almost solemn as he looks down at her. Eyes fall to her camera before raising to meet hers again, amber falling against blue. "Did you need something?" He asks.

Again, Caroline had only tried to instill manners in the unruly Benjamin, some of them stuckâ€"while some did not.
