There was always that part of the honey-blonde young woman that found such exhilaration in the part of making friends. It was the excitement of traveling the uncharted waters of each and every soul that so seemed to allow those glacier blue eyes to peer into the windows that may have once been closed only to open when they saw fit. She reveled in learning about those that would captivated her attention, always eager to ask another question neither too personal or too general so that just maybe she might be able to catch a glimpse of yet another piece to what made the person before her the way that they were. She loved knowing what it was that gave a heart passion, granted the spirit courage to brave against the tides of the world. There was often a trust that was given when someone considered another person with an air of worthiness the safeguard their tentatively shared secrets. Elain had always been good about keeping the secrets of those she befriended. Trust was something that wasn't always seemed easy to earn, and more often than not, when it was broken it was impossible to repair perfectly. It was like a glass, really. When first borne from that sand and intense flame, it was shaped and made into something elegant and beautiful, unique and breathtaking. Yet, when it was dropped and shattered upon the cold, hard earth one could their best to repair it but those cracks would almost always remain. Broken hearts and betrayed souls may forgive and may trust again, but the would only be that much harder to earn once again let alone near impossible to expect that the past did not flicker to the forethoughts of that individual wronged. Hence when Elain took the trust others placed in her incredibly serious, promising to take each and every secret to the grave and beyond with her if they so asked of her.
Icy blues meet fire amber and it is surprising just how... fierce those mysterious depths are to the young woman as she stands there with the young man she'd only just seen fleeting glimpses of on the college campus. That face of his seemed so unmoving, so stern, and before when she'd watched him for a moment or two from a distance she'd just thought that perhaps he was only entirely engulfed by whatever studies he was in pursuit of. She found herself wondering what it was that his passion was, wanting to know what resonated within every heartbeat though she knew simply by that almost aloof look to wild amber eyes she was far from ever seeing such things within Benjamin. If there was one thing that Elain was talented in, it was her warmth and patience. She could wait forever for the handsome and mysterious guy in front of her to open up, to let this slender fingers gently pull back that figurative cover so that she might be able to read the words of his past, present, and hopes for the future. Was he just one of those vagabond spirits that wandered through the trails of this life without any true destination set within their minds, or was he perhaps someone that knew exactly where it was that he wanted to end up, his carefully strategized plans baring a clear and undeniable goal? Glacier blue eyes regard him with a genuine and bright interest, wondering if just maybe she would be fortunate enough to see beyond that attractive face and captivating gaze. She had thought of him as one of those guys that she nothing but their next class, looked into nothing beyond those college books and detailed assignments until they accomplished the career they worked so hard towards. She certainly wouldn't mind if he pushed her away, encouraged her to end her pursuit of him then and there... but he doesn't, and that challenges that first impression she'd had of him.
His gaze narrows slightly as he seems to ask her exactly what she'd meant by those words, though this expression a quick to dissolve as he offers her a reply to the subtle observation she'd made of him. she can't help the gentle note of laughter that trickled effortlessly from her lips, like a gentle and babbling stream tumbling over pebbled stone."Oh, I'm almost certain of it", she says in a sweet and bemused reply of her own, icy blues glittering like frost beneath a morning sun. When he states that he doesn't mind the company on the way to the campus, Elain is definitely almost giddy with the idea of getting to talk with Benjamin. However it was he saw himself, the honey-blonde young woman couldn't help but feel like he was something different, someone that would leaving a lasting impression on her - not that many of her past friends and acquaintances hadn't during their time in her life, but there was definitely something about Benjamin that drew her to him. She turns, long braided locks resting gently over her right shoulder hardly moving from their place as she is careful to walk between the tables without bumping into any of them or the chairs full of quietly murmuring people and when they are outside, she instinctively draws a deep breath of that crisp and cold fall afternoon air, releasing it slowly as she relished in it. A particularly strong gust buffets against her slender frame, causing stray strands of her hair to swirl wildly around her for a moment and she hardly realizes the loosened paper until the dark-haired man is already reaching for it with almost lightning speed as he grabs it, his baritones ushering lightly into the air between them."Wow, that was quite impressive, Benjamin. I thought for sure my English homework was a goner", she says brightly as she extends her own hand to reach for them he paper.
Amber eyes flicker down to the paper and glacier blues are quick to notice, though when he is quick to glance away she simply smiles warmly to him as she takes it gently from him."Hey, no worries! It's just a poem I'm working on for my Creative Writing class. Criticism is always welcome", she reassures him sweetly as they walk side by side. Her curiosity rises once more as he shifts his gaze to the autumn sky overhead as he seems to contemplate his answer to her many rapid-fire questions, taking a moment or two before he turns his fierce amber eyes back to meet icy blues and she listens attentively as he goes over his schedule briefly. It all sounded so technical, only further suggesting that he truly was as solemn as the expression on his handsome features. Given the chance, Elain would change that. He returns her inquisitive question and this time he even attempts to imitate her enthusiasm with a wide smile to match only for the to fall away, but still Elain is smiling brightly back and laughing softly at his impression of her."Well, aside from that dreadful calculus class, I'm taking mostly English classes, though my favorites are probably my Shakespeare and Creative Writing classes. But I also happen to be taking psychology and I'm definitely considering drama since I think it could be pretty fun", she answers raidsntly, even when she realizes how very different their classes were. In fact, they couldn't really be more different, but that certainly wasn't a bad thing.
The bus arrived just as they are at the stop and they move through those open doors and before she can reach into he own pockets to pull out fare, Benjamin pays for her and she smiles gratefully to him as they walk down the aisle now, moving carefully behind him as he leads the way only to turn when he spies to seats next to each other. He drawls then in an almost charming way that might have sent other girls' hearts wildly a-flutter but Elain was bolder than that and so she dared to flutter thick lashes over eyes of early morning frost at the undeniably cute guy she'd found."Window, if you don't mind kind sir", she says playfully before brushing past him ever so fleetingly - though mostly unintentional in all honesty - and moved to lower herself into the seat. She slings her messenger into her lap then as she watches her companion with icy blues lingering once again on fierce ambers."You know, I think you're even cuter when you smile. You should try it more often", she says almost nonchalantly to him as he sits beside her. Her train of thought then returns her to the classes he'd mentioned he was taking as the bus begins to move and carry them off towards the campus where boundless education awaited them. She is only silent for a moment, though her glacier blues remain upon those fire ambers."So, what's with all those technical classes? Know what career you're wanting to get a degree for?", she asks curiously as she decides to stick to a more neutral matter of conversation for the time being. Should this be the last time they see each other, neither would leave with an awkwardness but should they meet again then she might see about what that mysterious past might speak of. Unless of course he decided to bring up the subject of personal lives which she would be equally as happy to partake in with the handsome near-stranger named Benjamin.
