East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

The woman seemed hardly perturbed by Alexis' presence in the cafe. It was as if she didn't exist and the woman could talk to Alexander right over her. She made it easy enough when she chose to speak in a different language. But Alexis searched the woman's features and she had a knowing look about her as she looked between Alexander and herself, as if able to put together the pieces even if Alexander didn't put them out on display. Alexis was a little satisfied with this but it didn't go so far, not when Alexander chose to not divulge the nature of their relationship when obviously he could feel that she was uncomfortable with the woman's presence and knowledge of him. Shouldn't he want to reassure her that what they had was real? But instead he seemed okay to just speak to the woman in another language. Alexis felt like an outsider looking in. She almost wanted to storm out but no, that was shy withdrawn Alexis thinking. No, she would stay right here and put herself in the conversation, whether they wanted it or not.

The woman said her name on a purr and Alexis lifted a brow in curiosity. She had a feeling this woman could make anything sound sexy in that accent. She bowed her head in greeting and Alexis nodded her own in return. It was only polite after all. When Alexis stepped away for a moment, they continued their conversation as if they were okay with her leaving and that set her more on edge. She clenched her teeth as she grabbed the mugs with her back to them, telling herself that she would keep her cool and get some answers. She handed the cup to the woman and watched her blow away the steam, mesmerized by her mouth. Her makeup was perfect. Everything about her was perfect. Alexis had a girl crush. The woman spoke to her and then told her it meant thank you in Russian. So that must be the language they're speaking. Alexis smiled politely and nodded.

"Yeah, I guess so." Then the woman said they could catch up any time and for her to ask her questions. She mentioned her twitching fingers and Alexis clenched her fist to stop them from twitching, not that it helped much. She let out her breath, looking for Alexander for a moment before turning her gaze back to Anastasia. "Alexander calls you his daughter but I don't buy it. What are you to him, really?" Why not be straight forward? She wanted to know their relationship, every dark crevice of it. She noticed Alexander was very quiet throughout most of this encounter. He only sighed when she stepped away from him and overall seemed pretty oblivious to the tension in the air until Anastasia saw fit to focus on Alexis' fingers. He didn't even speak then so Alexis straightened her spine. She was obviously on her own for this. So be it. She would prove she was strong enough to be at Alexander's side then. She wasn't a weak little Were.
