The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Malakai Kanaita
Watching the angry mullings of the petite Asian woman was so very akin to observing the antics of a hissing kitten thrashing about in pursuit of its own tail for how threatening her gestures and words truly were. Hell, maybe he was a sexist jerk, but at least he was not the one staging a one-woman theatrical production in the middle of a damn alleyway. Christ, given different circumstances he could have very well been halfway to his apartment by now and the bottle of whiskey that awaited him. But was he? Nope, instead he was cordoned in an alleyway with an over-excited med student who was, by all appearances, intent upon chastising him as if he were amongst the vagabonds who he had just dispatched. Was she actually still talking?
A sigh of something marginally akin to irritation huffs through the man's nose as his eyes follow her in her journey towards him... only to have her quite literally throw herself into his solid frame in what was an admittedly comical display, though Malakai does not allow the grin that teases at the brims of his lips to bear its fruit any further. God forbid she should catch him smiling at her misfortune, he would be here for hours listening to the grouse that would surely come of such a heinous transgression. Instead does the brutish man reach out instinctively to catch her, calloused hands cupping in a surprisingly gentle manner at her elbows as the woman's slender digits grasp for purchase upon his arms.
The slightest suggestion of a furrow pinches at his prominent brow, her supple flesh almost alarming chilled beneath his fingertips, before he moves to straighten her. The rough bulbs of his fingertips skate a smooth line against her skin before he releases her entirely to grasp at the fabric of his own leather jacket to ease it from his thickly-muscled frame, his counterpart now (finally) seeming to grapple fruitlessly for further rebuttal. Malakai pulls the coat from his frame, taking advantage of the presumed lapse in aggression to swing it around to place it gently upon the shoulders of the petite Asian woman before him. "You're going to catch a chill if you're not careful," he grumbles offhandedly, motioning in the direction that she had been traveling before the incident with the frat posse. "Let's go. Lead the way."
