East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Admittedly, it was probably only a matter of time before her brother caught on to what she was up to with Vhal. Despite his easily agitated disposition and his tendency to be stuck in that familiar haze as the whiskey went to work on giving him the sense of control the honey-blonde woman knew that he was always struggling for, he was far from unaware of there was a shift in Elain's schedule. It was like they had some unseen sibling bond, sort of like how twins had that unexplainable and almost telepathic bond where they could feel whatever it was that the other was feeling, where they could practically read the other's mind and know when something was up. Then again, Elain had never done anything quite like this before. After all, the party scene really wasn't her thing. That being said though, she wanted to live a little more on the rebellious side and her best friend in the whole wide world was more than eager to join the young woman on this sudden craving for adventure and there was no one else Elain would rather take the plunge into something entirely new and unexplored - even unthought of - with other than the white-haired woman moving into the seat beside her. She excluded the fearlessness and recklessness the honey-blonde woman could almost be envious of, and if there was anyone who would help Elain really experience city living while also helping Elain in making all the right choices that wouldn't leave the young woman regretting it, it was Vhal. So, while she fully expected for Lazarus to find out eventually the nature of her recent nocturnal affairs with her best friend and essentially let loose that temper she knew he was entirely capable of - also entirely sure that he would only ever yell at her like a parent, knowing he would never lay a hand on her for any reason no matter how angry he might get with her - which he could hardly keep under wraps as it was, she was determined to enjoy tonight to the fullest.

Relieved that Vhal took it upon herself to order drinks for both of them so that the honey-blonde woman didn't make a fool of herself on her first less than legal trip to the bar, she turns her attention back to the flashing lights and swaying crowd. It looked like everyone was so caught up in what was going on in their own little world that they hardly seemed bothered by the way that unfamiliar bodies would bump and brush up against them. Gosh, that looks fun! She could hardly remember the last time she'd danced herself silly, until her legs and feet ached that she was nearly certain they would fall off. Prom had been the last time she'd ever been part of anything remotely similar to the sight in front of her, and like tonight, it has Elain and her current close friend at the name, Naomi. They'd gone together, the one and only way that she had been able to go without having to worry about Lazarus crashing it and causing a scene the moment a guy would come up from behind her and ask if he could take her out onto the dance floor. The bartender returns with their drinks just as Vhal turns to face her, a smile dancing upon her plus lips as she replies to Elain's suggestion, causing the young woman to beam a delighted grin to her friend. As she reaches for her pink and fruity looking drink, Vhal speaks again about Lazarus and she can't help the minute pang of guilt as she nods in agreement. She really wasn't trying to make the man worry or anything. She just wanted to live a little, that was all."I'm sure he'll find out eventually, but I'll worry about that when it happens", she says as she lifts that drink up to her lips. She was surprised by the slight burning sensation of the beverage but the sweetness which quickly follows has her ushering a "mmm" of satisfaction at the overall taste. Whatever it was, she liked it! Especially once that burn disappeared. Vhal looks over to her, asking Elain if she liked the drink and again the young woman gives the witch a nod as a smile finds her lips once again."I do! It's not as bad as I thought it'd be", she replies readily with a soft giggle bubbling through her for a moment as she takes yet another drink, a slight warmth beginning to fill her stomach. She could see why Vhal and Lazarus enjoyed drinking, it had a certain pleasantness to that heat that crept through her innards and made her feel even happier she'd decided to rebel against the laws set in place by the government which clearly prohibited people under twenty-one from partaking in such risky things like the bar scene where things could easily go wrong if one wasn't careful... or inexperienced, like the honey-blonde woman.

Elain was hardly a good liar in any sense of the word. She knew this and would admit to such an undeniable fact. Plus, she knew that in the end the truth would always find a way to the surface, so she hardly ever tried to cover things up. Now, she definitely didn't peg the white-haired woman as the type that would have a relatively difficult time hiding things. She wasn't entirely sure why she got thay feeling about Vhal, and it held absolutely nothing over how fond the young woman was of her friend she couldn't have been happier to bump into that day when she'd been looking for the local market everyone raved about, but it was just something that she had a weird gut instinct on. She was fierce and wild, strong and always seemed prepared for anything and everything. Expect for being asked about if she'd happened to see Elain's big brother around or noticed any sort of unusual behavior in the man, apparently. Which only further prompted for Elain to ask, watching Vhal with glacier blue eyes bright in intrigue, amusement finding her gaze as the older woman nearly chokes on her drink before setting it on the table and diverting her gaze away from Elain. There was definitely something that Vhal wasn't telling Elain, and it had that deep curiosity only intensifying as she nearly misses the color rising on her companion's cheeks. It's only more of obvious something had happened between the two when they'd last encountered one another, especially when Vhal so quickly snaps brilliant blue eyes back to those of early morning frost to blatantly deny the flush anyone could see. Elain watches as the woman seems to get lost in thought, and it is then that the young woman's huntress senses kick in and she senses a shift in her friend's scent. What is that? She hadn't noticed that before...

Vhal speaks again, those words still shedding next to no more information on what had happened as the white-haired woman tilts her head back, stark hair brushing against her lower back as she downs the rest of her drink before waving the bartender down for another. By now, Elain hadn't even realized that she'd been sipping almost continuously on her own drink, her cheeks flushing for an entirely different reason than her best friend's. Lifting a brow as a teasing smile finds the young woman's lips, she was about to probe her clearly distracted companion for more information before Vhal makes it clear she was done talking about Lazarus. Elain offers a small shrug of her shoulders as she takes the last of her own drink just as Vhal is suddenly downing her second drink almost before the glass could hit the polished counter of the bar. Hearing the slight exasperation in Vhal's voice, honey-blonde woman decides that she would give her a break. For now. But this conversation was far from over if Elain had anything to say about it, although she wasn't entirely sure if she'd even remember this conversation later as that warmth seemed to spread through her veins and a slight lightheadedness tickled the back of the huntress's senses. Gosh, she felt good - great even! As soon as the white-haired woman speaks again, Elain's icy blue eyes glitter excitedly as Vhal reaches for her."Okay!", she replies as she allows for the witch to practically drag her out onto the dance floor, giggling girlishly as the warmth of alcohol begins to take a stronger hold on the honey-blonde woman. Soon, they're on the midst of those hot bodies and loud bass swaying to the beat and everything else seems to slip away as she laughs the moments way with her closest friends. She doesn't notice the looks that she gave the men who came up to the pair, trying to bump and dance against them, the only thing that she really cared to recognise was how amazing she felt as she danced there with Vhal.

Hardly caring to try and keep track of the minutes that they danced, the white-haired woman's voice reaches over the blaring music, Elain giggling once again."Sounds good to me!", she manages to say through her chiming laughter as once again her friend is dragging her through the crowd and back to the bar. She fully expected Vhal to order her another of those fruity drinks but instead the bartender brings two shot glasses filled with clear liquid. That voice in the back of her mind told her that this probably wasn't the best idea in the world, but she hardly fights as Vhal places it in her hand and clicks the two small glasses together. Her words have Elain arching her brows then, but she does as her friend instructs, tilting her head back as she holds her breath and downs the burning liquor. Ugh! So harrrrsh! While she doesn't say this aloud, it was clear by the face that she made that it definitely wasn't as well-liked as that daiquiri. Vhal laughs then, assuring the young woman she would get used to it and Elain's own laughter falls almost clumsily over her lips as that tipsy sensation she imagined was taking place begins to intensify."Pfft, I don't see how anyone can get used to that. It's like drinking liquid fire!", she says over the music, hardly able to stop the girlish giggle continuing to trickle over her lips. She finds herself needing to focus a little harder than she should need to in order to catch what Vhal says, the white-haired woman slipping into the crowd, leaving the not-so-sober honey-blonde woman sitting there to sway to the beat of the music in her chair. Alone.

It is then that a man slips into the seat beside her, the same seat that Vhal had been occupying only moments ago. Elain hardly turns to look at him, simply assuming he was just ordering a drink for himself before be would also disappear into the sea of dancing faces."Hello, beautiful", the dark-haired man drawls to her then, a devilish smirk tugging at his lips. Only then does Elain turn her icy blue depths on the man, barely noticing his slicked back hair and bright amber eyes."Benjamin? Is that you?! Hey! How've ya been?", she says brightly to the man who was clearly not the person she thought she was seeing, the man looking like the brooding young man she'd taken the bus to the university with a few weeks ago in this very moment despite the fact that he was much older - and much more dangerous - than the the real Benjamin."I've been good. You know, just doing my own thing. Hey, can I talk to you outside for a sec?", says the man, clearly playing on Elain's blatantly intoxicated state of mind. He offers her his hand and she takes it without even thinking, smiling warmly to the man with eyes like smoldering fire as she allows for him to lead her out the back door and into the alleyway. When they're outside, they move to the side of the door and she has to lean against the cold brick wall, back pressed against the hard surface as she tucked her honey blonde hair behind an ear, still smiling at the imposter watching her with wicked eyes as they seemed to run over her body."Is everything okay?", she asks through the haze that settles heavily over her senses, entirely unable to understand exactly the degree of danger she was in... The man puts a hand up against the wall beside her head as he leans in closely to the honey-blonde woman."It is now. I've been thinking about you a lot lately, Ellie...", he says lowly and before Elain can even register just how close he really was to her, his lips press against her own as he forces her into a kiss, his other hand moving to cup he'd neck as fingers slither through her hair, the man's strong frame dwarfing her own as he pins her there beneath them. Unable to distinguish what exactly was happening as her mind tricks her into thinking this man was Benjamin, that brooding and solemn yet cute guy who'd been kind enough to pay for her bus fare, Elain having hoped he might have at least called or texted her when she'd given him her number, she doesn't struggle against the forced affection - not that she could even if she wanted to.
