Even after having lived here in Sacrosanct for a little while now, it was still something that the young woman was trying to get used to, the way that people treated those around them. Or, rather, how they didn't treat them half the time. If it wasn't casting wary or irritable glances, it was acting like no one else in the world even existed except for those of some deemed importance or sentimental value. While Ellie had never really lived in the countryside, although perhaps the Daray Estate might have been considered rural to some sort of extent, especially considering that Fairfield in and of itself was hardly a city by Sacrosanct size or standard, being more of a large-ish town than anything else, it wasn't the idea of what came to the honey-blonde woman's mind when she thought of the term "countryside". For her, that meant miles and miles of golden wheat fields swaying in a gentle summer breeze, the rolling hills just reaching on into forever without a single towering building anywhere to be seen. It was windmills spinning lazily as the winds shifted, cows bellowing to one another as they grazed contentedly alongside other farm animals like horses and sheep, the crowing of roosters breaking at dawn to awaken those tenders of the land and field. It was where everyone knew everyone, where families that weren't even bound by blood still treated others like family. The people there were always so warm and friendly, greeting one another by name and always finding time to stop and chat about anything and everything, no matter how big or small. There, if anyone ever needed help, it would come flocking from every direction. Perhaps she might have a bit more of a romantic idea on the whole aspect of country living, hardly even able to imagine all the hard work that those people surely had to go through, ever-reliant on mother nature to be merciful. All the same though, it seemed that the smaller a population was, the warmer and more caring it was. Why couldn't it be the same for cities, where people were even closer to one another instead of separated by miles of acreage?
The other woman leans back onto her knees as if to inspect herself for wounds, and that only deepens the honey-blonde woman's concern. Was she hurt? If she was, then it would be an easy enough fix. Despite the awareness that using her gift would likely make her late for her first class so she could give herself a chance to recover from the dizziness and nausea that would inevitably come, there wasn't even the slightest second thought to be found in her mind that if the stranger was in fact hurt, she would call upon that gift to help her. It would be the right thing to do, the selfless thing to do, and it would hardly matter to Ellie in the least if she wouldn't feel well afterwards. Whatever it would take, she would do. When she is standing there beside the woman, extending her hand and her concern to her, she is almost relieved that her gesture was greeted with a genuine smile as the woman takes her hand and pulls herself to a stand. This wouldn't be the first time that Ellie had stopped to help someone who'd tripped and fallen, but it was the first time that she wasn't batted away like she thought the person couldn't help themselves or something. The last thing she ever wanted to do was give someone the wrong impression, like she thought them weak or something. It was just her way of trying to be kind, but she was learning quickly that not many here seemed to appreciate that. Everyone always suspected willing beings of being after something, having some sort of motive for doing what they did, but for Ellie, that couldn't be farther from the truth. All she wanted was to be nice to someone, maybe even make a new friend. So very few others seemed to be looking for such things here in this city, though.
So, of course, when that grateful expression finds the other woman's face, there is a wave of relief and happiness that in turn washes over the honey-blonde woman, a bright smile finding her own lips as glacier blue eyes admired the stranger in front of her. She was a beautiful woman, that much was for sure! Her sense of fashion was much better than Ellie's own, the young woman sporting that more comfortable appearance while the woman with flowing chestnut hair definitely seemed like she would fit perfectly with the chicest of individuals in Sacrosanct. Maybe she and Vhalla should meet! When the other woman speaks, there is a clear accent to her lilted voice, and yet the huntress can't quite place it, though her mind hardly lingers on trying to figure out where she was from, eyes widening only slightly as woman turns her last words towards the people that continued to move around them. A man walking nearby is the only one who seems to take notice, giving the two women an even wider berth as he went on his merry way. Ellie simple offers the woman an understanding smile, eyes softening."Yeah, it was surprising to me when I first moved here, too", she agrees, giving a gentle nod of her head. She's pretty fiery... I love it! And just like that, the woman turns back to Ellie, all previous traces of her anger vanishing like it hadn't even been there to begin with, offering a kind thanks which only brightens the honey-blonde woman's smile that much more."You're welcome. I'm just glad that you're alright", she answers as glacier blue eyes glance down to the woman's hands and knees, everything looking perfectly unscathed expect maybe her pride, though even if that were damaged, she did a fabulous job of hiding it as she nods in wordless agreement with Ellie's remark about the slickness of the pavement. All the while, the huntress herself was hardly ashamed of "being human".
Keen senses can feel the woman she stood with beginning to relax, continuing to encourage Ellie â€" not that she ever needed such a thing to be friendly towards a stranger â€" as she meets those chocolate eyes of her newfound morning companion. Naturally, she couldn't help but wonder what her story was, what secrets flickered just out of reach within those depths so seemingly capable of shifting at a moment's notice. Where was she from? Why was she here? Was she alone? Maybe she needed a friend! She remarks on the casualty that truly could not be saved, another gentle smile finding the honey-blonde woman then."It's pretty ridiculous, huh? But I guess businesses have to get their profit somehow", she replies easily. She watches the woman's expression change into something not too unlike excitement as she mentions the café not far from where they were now, and it is then that she offers Ellie her name, the young woman's eyes sparkling as she happily reaches to give a gentle shake of her hand in greeting, returning the warm smile the woman gives her."It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Hazel. I love your name! It's so pretty and unique. I haven't met a Hazel before, but there are thousands of Elains just in this city alone, I'm sure", she replies sweetly, trying to keep herself from going off about names too much though it was impossible for her not to compliment the woman with flowing chestnut hair on the name she was given. At the offer of Hazel getting her something, she waves it off gently although she certainly didn't want to be rude."Oh, you don't have to do that! I'm just happy to help and meet someone new", she answers warmly, her radiant smile beaming at Hazel as she gestures for the woman to follow her down the street."So, are you new here?", she asks casually as they walk past a few shops, glacier blue eyes hardly staring into the windows now that she had some company. She loved company. It wasn't that she couldn't stand the idea of being alone, sometimes enjoying the peace and quiet of just sitting in Hyde Park and watching the world go by as she would allow for herself to unwind after a long day of classes, but there was something about being in the right company that she thought was the best thing in the world. Everyone needed friends, and Ellie certainly wouldn't turn away the chance to make another.
