The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I bet on me and my own heartbeat For all intents and purposes, Kathryn was still the new girl on the block. She really didn't have anyone she could call her friend. Perhaps Emerson, the blonde girl she had met in the park when she had taken a tumble off of her bike and the girl had come to check on her. And then there was Damon, who Kathryn would not go as far to call a friend in any sense of the word. Though, despite her best attempts to act cold and dismissive towards him, the vampire had some how wormed his way under his skin, irritatingly so. The vampire had the opportunity to hurt her, even kill her, and he had chosen not to, whether it was pity, for his own gains or what, he still hadn't committed any atrocity against the little witch and for that, deep, deep down, she was indeed grateful and that action on his part would not soon be forgotten. The brunette man was most certainly a sight for sore eyes, and his carefree chuckle was a welcomed sound to float into the witch's ears. She counters his laugh with her own happy giggle as he strolls over to her. "Only when I am hoping to meet a dashing stranger," she says, bringing her voice lower in a mock attempt to be seductive. "You don't know where I could happen to find one of those now do you?" She playfully teases, feeling comfortable to be with a familiar face, especially not knowing very many people in this rather large and intimidating city. She slides her long, dark hair behind her ear and smiles at Taylor. "Now tell me, what have you been up to? Have you settled into town?" She asks excitedly, eager to hear the possible many stories he may have waiting right behind his steady eyes. Just as she finishes speaking though, a hauntingly cold gust of wind rushes by her, nearly freezing her face into place and she reaches out and gently taps his arm. "Maybe not here though," bright, vibrant blue eyes scan the area around the pair as she looks for a suitable place to take temporary residence in. That is when the smell of fresh backed goods reaches the little witch. She looks around for the source of the smell, a bakery lays across the street. Kathryn gestures to the place as she looks to Taylor. "What do you think?" She asks. Yes, she could definitely do with a tasty treat right about now. "I'll race ya," she says and Kathryn is off in the blink of an eye, attempting to cross the street at just the right time to avoid any automobile collision. She feels the wind pushing against her and resists the urge to cheat and use the wind on her side. She had been practicing her power ever since she found out she was a witch. It was difficult, especially without anyone to teach her the basic fundamentals, and her being unable to remember anything from her childhood, the last time she had been a practicing witch. She contemplates asking her grandparents, but in the end, she cannot bring herself to do so. What if she couldn't handle whatever they had to tell her? She wonders too, where her powers came from. Her mother? Her father? Surely, she wasn't just born with them, was that even possible? If she only had a teacher of some sorts. Out of breath, Kathryn arrives in front of the bakery, sucking in gulps of air as she looks to Taylor, a playful twinkle shining out from the depths of those icy blue eyes. |
