The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

As her pencil swept across the page, Fiora found her mind wandering elsewhere. It wandered back to the little house where she'd grown up with her mother, stepfather, stepbrothers, and half-sister. Sure, the whole thing was a little complicated, but Fiora loved all of them. Her stepfather had been true to his title and stepped up to be her father. He had been widowed before he married her mother, and the two were very happy. However, Edward and Benedict weren't so sure about having a new sibling, and Fiora wasn't sure what to think of them at first either. However, Ben warmed up to her and the two got along well, but the older of the two brothers, Edward, refused to accept her as family. Ben said that he'd see how nice she was in time, that he was still missing their mother, so Fiora accepted it and gave him time.
Of course, Ben was right and after a certain incident involving her biological father she pushed out of her mind as soon as it came in, Ed worked to open the door that he had slammed between them. Not too long after, Iona was born, and everyone welcomed their bubbling new baby sister. It was Fiora's first time being a big sister, so she tried very hard to show how much she loved her baby sister, and drew her as she grew up. Of course, she disliked many of those sketches now, but Iona, now in college, treasured them as much as the photo album mother had made her as well. Their family was strange and complicated, but it had been loving and Fiora couldn't wish for better brothers or a better sister.
When she came back from her lapse down memory lane, she found that the character she was attempting to draw came out looking more like a stylized version of her big brother Ed. A smile touched her pale lips before she went back to draw a different character she had conceptualized. At some point while she was making strokes, some of her fire-touched auburn hair tumbled down in front of her ear. She was quick to stroke it back before resuming her drawing, but moments later, a voice came through the void she had created for herself. The young woman jumped as wide eyes looked up to the disturbance, who, by gesture and what she had caught of his phrasing, looked like he was asking if she was okay with him taking a seat.
"Uh, sure, I don't mind. Take a seat." She couldn't help but take in the rugged beauty of the man who had taken a seat before her. And yet, his golden browns looked only to be filled with gentleness. His smile filled up the whole of his face, the lower half which was dotted with the beginnings of a beard. His cheekbones were sharp and his profile defined, but at the same time, there was a touch of kindness and gentleness to his features, and Fiora found herself asking him a question with barely a thought.
"Hey... this might be a weird question," grey pools looked down as she tried to compose herself to finish her request to this man, a sort of shame coming over her for even asking, knowing he would surely decline, "But... can I draw you?" She knew she probably just came off as creepy and the gesture would be unwanted, but like her mother always told her "If you don't ask, the answer is always no." So, she hoped this stranger would at least accept her asking the same way he had asked before he had taken a seat. She dared to look up at him once more, the blond hair atop his head gleaming in the early morning sunlight that filtered through the blinds, finding the courage to make contact between silvery blues and golden browns, silently hoping that he wouldn't shoot her down right away, that maybe in this city, she would find a bit of luck to be found. Heck, maybe he'd be willing to listen to her dilemma, but that one was probably a long shot.
