Arlo James
See what it's like to be a vulture's lunch
"You nearly ready, Ab's?"
Arlo's head tilted easily backward to offer those words towards the bathroom door his girlfriend had retreated behind several minutes ago to see to getting into her costume. Arlo finding himself almost...anxious to see how she looked. He had no doubt that she had exactly the right sort of figure to be able to pull off a damn good Poison Ivy, hell, Abby had the sort of figure that would pull off just about anything. Rather, the Crusnik found himself almost nervous over whether or not Abby would actually like that costume at all. After all, he'd picked it for her- once he'd recovered from the shock off her informing him that she had never actually had a Halloween before, let alone dressed up. Arlo having taken several days to actually get his head around the idea that this mystical land of Nepal that Abby had come from had once more proven to be by far the world's strangest country. They didn't seem to have anything there! No good hotels, no spa baths, hallways were in question and now no Halloween!? It was more then he had been willing to accept. That invitation to Red on The Water having come at almost the perfect time. A halloween party was the perfect way to introduce Abby to the holiday right? Even if a part of him found himself apprehensive at the idea of how many other vampires might be there.
Making friends with other vampires was, after all, hardly his strong suit. His prey rarely seeming to desire to actually chat to him and he supposed, really, that was fair. Arlo equally content to avoid those he'd fed on before if only because other vampires seemed to hold such...grudges. Yet, even more then that, he found himself becoming distinctly....protective over Abby even when he was trying to, well, not to be. He had, as Sebastian promised, become entirely more settled about her existing near any other man even when they did look at her in a way he found damn near annoying and yet other vampires still remained an issue. It was a territorial thing, he supposed. The very sort of thing he'd once used to tease other vampires about. The way that all but orbited around their chosen mates had been nothing short of ridiculous and yet here he was, doing exactly the same thing. Every single time he and Abby went anywhere. Her safety having become his veritable obsession. Not that he suspected Abby had actually noticed. At least, if she did she had never said anything about it. Maybe that was for the better. Still, he knew Damon and Isolt, the owners at Red on The Water. Arlo assured he had at least some level of trust in them that it might surely be safe enough to take Abby to a party at their bar.
Those finishing touches were added to his own outfit then as Arlo turned back toward that mirror in Abby's bedroom. Halloween perhaps the one night of the year his own kind could fully express being, well, exactly what they were. Arlo hardly uninclined to waste that opportunity. The Crusnik having found that victorian steampunk outfit decidedly easy to come by and really, he looked pretty damn good in it he was sure. Those black pants and white boots had been easy enough to get on, along with that black dress shirt. Arlo having debated for several moments over just what came next before deciding on that deep, deep red coloured flocked vest with its bronze coloured buttons, leather straps and hardware accents. That black jacket with its black leather capelet had gone over that in turn after several phone calls to Seb to make sure this was, in fact, the order such clothes went in. After all, Arlo was mostly sure this was exactly the sort of thing Sebastian had probably grown up wearing. He was pretty damn old. The final piece of that attire was that black top hat and bronze pair of goggles that sat atop it. Arlo mostly sure he had no idea what the goggles were actually for, but hey, they were always wearing them in pictures. Maybe he'd ask Seb or Dorian. The Crusnik paused once more to glance in that mirror a final time. This close to the most well dressed he was pretty sure he might have ever been. The sound of the bathroom door opening readily drawing his attention then. That grin near instantly finding his features.
"Wow, babe, you look great!"
She did. In every possible way. His blue gaze instantly drawn to just how well that costume highlighted her figure. Maybe to well. Maybe he'd picked a better costume then he should have. Damn but she looked good. How the hell had he actually convinced her to go out with him at all? Maybe it was better if he didn't consider that one to closely.
"Do you like it?"
After all, he wasn't about to make her wear something she hated or didn't feel comfortable in even if he was mostly sure everyone else was going to be just as costumed as they were- if not even more so. Abby likely to fit right in. Arlo offering that ready, reassuring grin once more as he offered his arm for her to take. Steampunk vampires probably were gentleman after all right? Arlo content to lead the way downstairs and out onto the street once Abby assured him she was ready. That walk over to Red on The Water hardly far. Arlo having chosen to walk for that simple fact it gave Abby every chance to see how many other people were dressed up tonight. His efforts to explain Halloween, he was sure, having confused the girl more than they had helped and yet, here and now, with the chance to see other people dressed up it surely might have made more sense to her. Arlo content to keep her close all the same until they made it over to that bar. The place having been all but transformed since the last time he had been here. It was pretty impressive really. That easy wave was offered in the direction of both Damon and Isolt, Arlo having spotted the pair in the crowd readily enough even amongst that music and lights that adorned the bar. Arlo reached for Abby's hand then to guide her towards the bar, his own figure leaning back against that polish wood surface- affording the couple that chance to survey the room. Christ, but it had been a long time since he'd actually come to one of these things. He'd missed it. Another toothy grin flashed towards Abby then.
"So what do you think, eh? Your first Halloween Party. What are you up for? We can drink something that looks weird or try some of that food that also looks pretty weird and Halloween themed or we can chill her for a bit and try and guess what people are supposed to be dressed up as. Always a risky game, you know, in case they hear you and you guessed wrong..."
