East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

He didn't know why he continued to look for Lannie in the park every day but he found it was becoming a daily thing to wander through on his way to town or back home. It wasn't even really on the way. He could easily cut through the westside to get back home, and yet he was hoping to catch another glimpse of her, hoping maybe to see her head bent over the pages of another notebook, doodling away. He kept her darwing book tucked away safely in his jacket pocket just in case, ut had yet to find her. Sometimes, he'd catch her scent around the park when he walked through, like she'd been there but the scent had faded by a few hours. He always felt like he'd just missed her. He almost considered leaving the book on the bench for her to find but he didn't want to risk someone else getting it instead. He was sure some of the drawings were intimate and she might not want a lot of people seeing them. He was a man of privacy himself so he could understand. Instead he kept the book with him, hoping some day he'd run into her again and give it back. He wouldn't even ask for an explanation on why she ran off. It wasn't any of his business, though he had an inkling there was a lot more to her than meets the eye.

The morning was starting off cold and the heavy clouds were promising snow so he headed indoors. He found a new little cafe on the eastside and decided to try it out. He got a coffee and a huge cinnamon roll they had displayed in the front of the case. He knew he couldn't eat it all but he could have what he wanted then package it up and bring it home to his house keeper Adele. She'd love that. He was sitting quietly in a corner booth, reading the paper while he snacked on the cinnamon roll, when he heard a small but familiar voice speak. His head turned slowly, almost afraid he was imagining things now but there Lannie stood, or rather, was standing because she'd already stammered an apology and was now turned to walk away. "You're more than welcome to join me, Lannie." He murmured in what he hoped was a soft welcoming voice. He didn't want her to go. If she turned back, he offered a friendly smile and waved his hand at the seat across from him. "Besides, I'm not sure I can take on this cinnamon roll solo. I might need some backup." His lips twitched at a smirk as he waited for her reaction, his eyes twinkling.
