The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

She gave him a warm smile back in response, seemingly friendly enough as she took a seat. He wanted to find out more about her but at the same time, he didn't want to hassle her when she might be looking for a quiet place to read. She said that it was nice to have a name to the face and his lips twitched into a smirk before a deep chuckle fell from them. She seemed so serene and innocent. There was just something open about her, like she hadn't had too many bad experiences in the world. It was refreshing to be around someone who didn't act like they were damaged or scarred. Maybe hers were on the inside still, but she was very good at hiding them if so. As he tried to read his paper, he could feel her looking up at him every so often, tiny glances so as not to raise suspicion. A normal person might have never noticed, but he did every time. He kept his own eyes to his paper, not wanting to creep her out by meeting her gaze or anything. He was okay with her being curious. At least she hadn't gone for a stake or anything yet. He was more interested in the book she'd opened up. Even from the corner of his eyes, he could tell it was ancient, the pages worn and aged. He could also sense it's magical properties. A spell book? Or just ancient history about covens? Her gaze shifted to him again and this time it felt more direct so he felt it was okay to lift his own eyes. Then she asked if she knew him. He tilted his head a little, one brow lifting in question as his lips curled into a small smirk again. "I don't believe so. Do you?" She seemed to be thinking about it even after asking, like she might already know the answer. She thought for a moment in which he just watched her, feeling it wouldn't be rude in this moment since she looked like she wasn't done trying to figure him out anyway. Then she apologized, saying there was something about him. He leaned back in his seat with a small sigh, folding the paper as he stetched his arms out on the back of the couch behind him and folded his leg across his knee, looking completely at ease as he studied her for a moment. "It's probably your senses telling you when a predator is near. You're just not used to seeing my kind in the daylight." He was sure that should be enough clues to let her know what he was but he still has his voice lower so anyone listening in might not get the wrong idea. He knew there were a lot of humans here who wouldn't know what to think about a random guy calling himself a vampire. They'd probably call the cops or at least the nearest asylum. He waited patiently for her reaction, hoping she didn't freak out or take her response to the extreme. |
