East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

My Own Form Of CHAOS

She seems reassured by my words telling her that Chaz will be just fine. This confirms my theory that she wouldn't have wanted the guilt of his death on her shoulders if I hadn't been there to stop her. She doesn't seem assured however when I tell her that he'll probably be just as interested in her next time as well. I chuckle at her comment and shake my head.

"I don't think anyone could do that."

I say in a soft voice as I look down the dark street, knowing that if I look at her right now, she'll see the softness in my eyes that I'm not sure I want her to see. When I ask about her sanctuary from the daylight, I can practically sense her tense up as she looks away, seemingly like she's checking out the horizon but I learned a long time ago how to read body language like a book and I know she's worried. The thought only makes my brows furrow more. She doesn't seem happy that I'm asking about where she's staying. Either she doesn't trust me well enough to tell me that or there's something she doesn't want me to know for other reasons. I only get a short answer in return. She tries to offer a look of assurance but I feel anything but. Her eyes tell all.

I search her face for a few seconds before I concede with a soft sigh and nod of my head, not wanting to push the subject further, at least this time.

"Okay."

As she moves toward me, I watch her with growing puzzlement in my stare. I can see the change the blood has made in her. Her skin practically glows with health now and I know I've done good by her. She wraps her arms around my neck and her body fits to mine like a glove as she embraces me. I feel my body relax as I wrap my own arms around her waist, returning the embrace with a gentleness I didn't know I had in me anymore. She rests her chin on my shoulder and I can smell her sweet fragrance, a mixture of fall leaves and sunshine. I smile and run my hands gently up her spine, rubbing at her back affectionately as she puts her lips to my cheek in a chaste innocent kiss that leaves me reeling and breathless even though I don't need breath anymore. Her lips linger a few seconds too long and I hold my breath, eyes finding hers in these moments, wondering what she's thinking. That's when she pulls back and gives me a breath taking smile as she turns to leave. Once I've regained composure, I offer a charming smirk in return, eyes gleaming as I hold up my hand in a wave.

"Till next time, Isolt."

I say softly, knowing she can hear me. I wait until she's far out of sight before I turn to head back to my place, wondering what the hell I've gotten myself into.
