death incarnate & night triumphant
His mind screamed at him to stop, to not follow her, to take to the skies and leave her be. Yet, that pesky instinct kept taking over, the need to protect her overwhelming every other thought in his mind. Andras couldn't help but to follow her, to any bystanders - it looked like nothing more than a lovers' spat. He continues to trail after her like a lost puppy, even as she leads them down a deserted hallway towards the bathrooms, when she speeds up he reaches out and grabs her hand, tugging her to a stop. She freezes after she looks back at him, his heart very nearly breaking as he sees her silver lined eyes. He's aware that those tears are because of him, that he is responsible for every feeling the she is currently feeling. He didn't know how to fix it, though he desperately wants to. Andras is unaware of the traveling of his emotions, seeping into her frozen frame, the poor woman no more than a deer in the headlights.
What he is aware of it the flow of Lani's emotions into him, it was startling and not unlike the way he could slip into someone's mind and feel what they are feeling. It shocks him enough that he gently grips her hand a little tighter as her anguish engulfs him. The tears rolling down her face all but makes him want to fall to his knees, to beg for her forgiveness. Instead, he lifts his other hand, wiping away the first tear and then the second, his long fingers lingering on her cheek before he drops it back to his side, her gaze shifting away from his to their hands. Her cracking words are harsh on his ears as he watches her, guilt all but tearing his insides in half, "Lani, I want to-," he's interrupted by the giggles of girls walking down the hallway, clearly making their way to the restroom, Andras's gaze never leaving Lani as he sidles up closer to her, carefully blocking her crying face from the women.
He's silent as they pass, a few hushed whispers talking about them as they enter the bathroom. Keeping an eye on the young Fae woman before him, he drops her hand finally, his fingers cold without her warmth. He doesn't take a step back, instead he pulls her into a hug, his arms wrapping around her shoulders as he squeezes her to him, his cheek resting on her head, "I want to apologize," he murmurs into her hair, "I didn't give you a choice, I murd- I finished your change because I couldn't bare the thought of you not being in this world anymore. It was selfish, impulsive and I can never ask your forgiveness, nor should you ever give it to me," he says, pulling away suddenly and taking a step away. He of course, does this so he doesn't take her away from here, Andras worried he would steal her away from the world. He stares at her silently for a moment, until the bathroom door opens again and those same giggling girls stroll past them again, eyes darting to Andras and Lani, their whispers of wonderings heard easily with his Fae hearing. It feels like an eternity before they are gone, Andras wanting to do nothing more than roar at them to move on.
"Let me help you Lani, it's the least I can do," he offers quietly.
